Chapter 99: How Could I Have Forgotten?
“Darling, you shouldn’t drink so much strong tea; it’s not good for you,” said He Haoxuan with concern.
It was well known that forcing oneself to stay awake with strong tea and drinking too much could have serious side effects on one’s health.
“Give it back! I still need to look over this document,” Li Qingying stomped her foot angrily when He Haoxuan tried to stop her.
“Come on, honey, listen to me.” He Haoxuan drank half the strong tea before handing the cup back. “I tried it. This tea tastes awful.”
“You—” Li Qingying was too angry to speak.
Since He Haoxuan had already drunk from the cup, if she drank from it afterward, wouldn’t that mean they indirectly kissed?
Seeing Li Qingying hesitate, He Haoxuan triumphantly placed the cup on the table and gently grabbed her arm. “Come on, darling, you should take a break now.”
“Let go of me,” Li Qingying said, blushing.
Though He Haoxuan only held her arm, she felt as if he were holding her delicate hand, making her heart race.
“If you don’t listen to me, I’ll just carry you,” He Haoxuan bent down, pretending to pick her up.
Startled, Li Qingying quickly set the documents on the table and followed him into the small lounge.
“Honey, why don’t you take off your clothes and rest?” He Haoxuan smiled mischievously.
This was a perfect opportunity. If Li Qingying complied, he would have a feast for the eyes.
“He Haoxuan, you’re so bad,” Li Qingying scolded, blushing.
He Haoxuan looked innocent. “Honey, you know I’m always honest and devoted. Why would you say that? Remember, you have to work this afternoon. If you don’t rest properly and wrinkle your clothes, you’ll embarrass yourself.”
Li Qingying thought about it and realized He Haoxuan didn’t seem to be taking advantage of her.
“All right, then. You can leave now; I’ll handle this myself,” she said.
He Haoxuan had no intention of leaving such a golden chance. “Honey, have you had headaches these past few days?”
“How do you know?” Li Qingying asked curiously.
“Sigh, your husband is an all-knowing remedy for everything,” He Haoxuan chuckled. “Come here, let me massage your temples. It’ll help you fall asleep and avoid insomnia.”
Li Qingying wanted to refuse, but He Haoxuan had already pressed her gently on the small bed, his hands on her temples.
A wave of comfort swept through her, and she closed her eyes softly without saying another word.
Lately, Li Qingying had been utterly exhausted. If she didn’t rest well, her health might suffer.
Perhaps it was He Haoxuan’s unique massage technique, for before long, Li Qingying fell asleep on the bed.
He Haoxuan pulled the blanket up and gently covered her.
In her deep sleep, she looked incredibly beautiful—like a pure goddess, untouchable.
If Li Qingwan was a tender peach, then Li Qingying was a ripe, juicy peach that made one’s mouth water.
Reluctant to leave, He Haoxuan quietly sat by the bed, closing his eyes to rest.
He lost track of time until Li Qingying slowly opened her eyes.
She had dreamed a wonderful dream—her prince on a white horse had come to take her away, and they galloped across the grasslands together.
The joy made her smile aloud.
But when her eyes opened and she saw He Haoxuan, she was startled. “Ah, it’s you.”
Li Qingying realized her dream of a white horse prince was shattered, replaced by the good-for-nothing He Haoxuan.
Sigh, is life truly like this? Are beautiful moments only found in dreams?
“Honey, you’re awake? You slept well—you were even smiling just now,” He Haoxuan said with a grin.
“You’re lying! How could you hear me laughing?” Li Qingying blushed and shot him a glare.
How embarrassing—to be caught laughing in a dream about a prince on a white horse by He Haoxuan.
Thank goodness she hadn’t dreamed of food and drooled, or that would have been even more humiliating.
“I heard it with both ears,” He Haoxuan said. “Honey, I’m not lying. If I were, may lightning strike me.”
Li Qingying blushed even deeper. Such a vow made the situation all the more awkward.
“How long did I sleep?” Li Qingying asked.
“Not long, just over two hours,” He Haoxuan replied with a smile.
“Two hours? I have a meeting this afternoon!” Li Qingying hurriedly got out of bed.
But in her rush, she stumbled and nearly fell toward He Haoxuan.
He Haoxuan’s heart leapt with joy. He closed his eyes and opened his arms, ready to catch her.
Yet after a long moment, no softness came into his embrace. Opening his eyes, he found the room empty—Li Qingying was gone.
“Honey, where did you go?” He Haoxuan hurried out to find her tidying her clothes.
Li Qingying looked at him and asked sharply, “He Haoxuan, while I was asleep, did you take advantage of me?”
“I’m not that kind of person,” He Haoxuan thought to himself, almost slapping his own face.
How could he have forgotten? He should have taken advantage of her while she was asleep. Now that she was awake, it was too late.
Li Qingying gave him a sharp look. “You’re exactly that kind of person.”
Feeling refreshed after her nap, Li Qingying said, “By the way, when will you come work here as a salesperson?”
“As long as I can be with you, I’m ready anytime,” He Haoxuan declared confidently, pounding his chest.
“All right, then. Come to work tomorrow, and don’t be late,” Li Qingying reminded him.
He Haoxuan checked the time. It was about time to head to Qingshan University.
“Honey, I’ll leave the car for you. I’ll take a taxi to school.”
