Making He Haoxuan a security guard would certainly not be ideal. As a driver, it wouldn’t be much better; he’d often be out and not at home, and when she returned, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy his cooking.

Mo Xiufang was somewhat concerned. “President Li, you mentioned the warehouse manager position before. On the surface, it seems insignificant, but it’s actually very important. There are many goods and products stored there, and if anything goes wrong, it could be catastrophic.”

Li Qingying frowned inwardly; Mo Xiufang had a point. Someone like He Haoxuan, careless and undisciplined, sometimes absent from work at the warehouse, could easily disrupt the progress of projects, which would be problematic.

“President Li, don’t worry. I’ll find a suitable job for Mr. He Haoxuan.” Mo Xiufang thought secretly, Why can’t He Haoxuan just remain a useless member of the Li family? Why bother coming to work at Baili Group?

Mo Xiufang resolved to find He Haoxuan a very embarrassing position, one he wouldn’t be able to handle, so that he would retreat in defeat.

Not long after Mo Xiufang left, she returned. “President Li, just now there was a notice from the matriarch—there’s to be a meeting of all senior executives this afternoon.”

“Alright,” Li Qingying nodded without much caution. Meetings like these among executives were sometimes necessary.

But Mo Xiufang was different. She whispered a warning, “President Li, something doesn’t feel right. Why is it that as soon as the hundred-million bonus arrives, they call a senior meeting? You should be wary.”

“Wary of what?” Li Qingying dismissed her concerns. “Grandmother reinstated me as general manager; the others can’t do anything to me.”

Li Qingying knew well that Li Dasong and the others had always been displeased with her, wanting to oust her. But after her tremendous contribution to Baili Group and securing a hundred-million project, could they really discard her so ruthlessly?

Seeing Li Qingying’s confidence, Mo Xiufang said no more. After all, it was the Li family’s business—she’d said enough; anything more would be meddlesome.

In the afternoon, Li Qingying arrived at the small conference room in the group headquarters. Li Liang and the others were already inside.

As the general manager, Li Qingying’s position allowed Li Dong and his wife to attend the meeting.

The matriarch saw that everyone had arrived and cleared her throat. “Since we’re all here, let’s begin.”

“Mom, are we getting dividends now?” Song Li asked excitedly.

Baili Group was flush with cash—an extra hundred million in its coffers. Naturally, everyone was thinking about their share.

Li Liang looked at Song Li with nothing but contempt in his eyes. Li Dong had married a foolish woman who only cared about money, unaware that this meeting had a very different purpose.

The matriarch glared at Song Li and scolded, “Song Li, is money all you ever think about? Do you understand nothing else?”

“I—I…” Song Li was cowed by the matriarch’s rebuke and dared not say another word.

The matriarch continued, “These past days, Qingying has worked hard. Therefore, we’ll let her take a break and rest.”

“Grandmother, I’m not tired,” Li Qingying replied hurriedly.

“What? Let Qingying rest?” Song Li caught on to the matriarch’s intent—it was obvious they were discarding her now that Baili Group had secured the funds from Quange Trading.

The matriarch said, “This isn’t my decision alone; it’s the decision of the group. Qingying, you’ll hand over your responsibilities to Dasong shortly.”

“Qingying, make sure your handover is thorough. I’ve heard you’ve used quite a bit of company funds lately. I hope you can make up any discrepancies. Otherwise, if things get messy, remember, we’re family, and it won’t be pretty,” Li Dasong mocked.

Song Li slammed the table and cursed, “Li Dasong, what nonsense are you spouting? When has Qingying ever acted for personal gain at the company? It’s you, as vice general manager, who’s harmed the company’s interests!”

“Song Li, don’t make baseless accusations. Do you have any evidence?” Li Dasong sneered.

He wasn’t stupid; any embezzlement was carefully concealed, leaving no traces—unless the matriarch herself investigated, no one else could uncover anything.

The matriarch shot Song Li a cold look. “Song Li, don’t speak without evidence. Otherwise, I’ll have you thrown out of the company.”

“Mom, you can’t do this to Qingying,” Song Li pleaded, her face full of distress.

“We’re in a company meeting—you should address me as Chairwoman,” the matriarch said coldly.

Song Li shivered, suddenly feeling the matriarch harbored deep resentment toward her.

Li Qingying shook her head. “Grandmother, I’m not tired, no need for rest. If you don’t want me as general manager, that’s fine—I can go back to being a manager.”

The matriarch shook her head. “You don’t need to be manager either. After all, you won’t be part of the Li family much longer. For now, you’ll be deputy general manager, exchanging places with Dasong.”

“Alright, I’ll switch offices with him then,” Li Qingying replied.

Li Dasong waved his hand dismissively. “No need to change offices, just switch the nameplate. I’ll stay in my old office.”

Li Dasong had always been overbearing in the group; his office was larger and better equipped than Li Qingying’s, so he’d never consider moving.

Seeing the matter settled, the matriarch announced the end of the meeting.

Li Qingying left with Li Dong and Song Li. The matriarch dismissed the other executives, leaving only Li Dasong’s family.

“Li Liang, tell me honestly, is Li Qingying really not Li Dong’s biological child?” the matriarch asked.

Li Liang patted his chest to show his sincerity. “She really isn’t. I went with Li Dong to the hospital that year—he’s infertile.”

“So, his two daughters are bastards,” Li Dasong sneered. “Grandmother, just throw them out.”

Li Liang was startled and shot Li Dasong a warning glance, then said to the matriarch, “Madam, this matter can’t be publicized. It concerns the reputation of the Li family—we can’t afford such disgrace.”

“Yes, Li Liang is right. We can’t let anyone else know. We’ll handle it quietly. Anyway, Dasong has control of Baili Group now, and Qingying does have some ability. Let her work under you and serve the group,” the matriarch said.

“I’ll do as Grandmother says,” Li Dasong replied with a sly smile.

His father’s cunning plan had turned the tide in their favor.

At first, the matriarch had hesitated, worried that Quange Trading would object—after all, they’d just transferred the funds and now Li Qingying was being removed.

But upon learning that Li Qingying wasn’t Li Dong’s biological child, the matriarch made up her mind.

Li Qingying, you still want to challenge me? Impossible. Li Dasong was secretly elated.

After all, they had a contract with Quange Trading, and the money was already in Baili Group’s account—it was his to spend as he pleased.
