At noon, He Haoxuan drove the BMW X with Li Qingying to pick up Bai Lu.

Bai Lu was waiting for them at the entrance of an upscale residential complex. As soon as the car stopped, Li Qingying got out of the front passenger seat, gave Bai Lu a hug, and the two of them walked hand in hand to the back seat.

As her name suggested, Bai Lu was exceptionally fair-skinned, with a voluptuous figure and a striking presence. While she stood at the entrance, several men in luxury cars tried to strike up a conversation, but she ignored them all.

“Qingying, is that your husband up there? He’s quite handsome—looks are up to par, but I wonder how he is in other respects?” Bai Lu eyed He Haoxuan in the front seat, sizing him up unabashedly.

He Haoxuan felt awkward, as if he were a monkey on display at the zoo.

“Hey, darling, you can’t just let your best friend talk about me like this. What if she sets her sights on me?” He Haoxuan said with a wry expression.

“Oh, please, He Haoxuan, as if I’d be interested in you,” Bai Lu shot back indignantly.

Everyone in Qingyang City knew the Li family had a live-in son-in-law. Especially after last night, when Bai Lu made more inquiries about Li Qingying, she learned that her useless husband was named He Haoxuan—a good-for-nothing who loafed around and lived off his wife.

Hmph, they say they’re taking me to Tenglong Villa? I’d like to see if they’re really capable of it.

As for this BMW X7, rumor had it that Li Qingying had given He Haoxuan money to rent it for appearances’ sake.

Li Qingying, we’re best friends. If your life isn’t going well, if you’re struggling and married to a loser, I wouldn’t blame you. But you shouldn’t have kept it from me. The more you pretend, the worse I feel. Bai Lu looked at Li Qingying, who was smiling beside her, and felt a pang of resentment and pain.

She directed all her resentment at He Haoxuan, thinking that if it weren’t for him, her best friend wouldn’t be suffering.

Now, Li Qingying must be forcing a smile and putting on a brave face.

Li Qingying laughed. “Hehe, no problem. If Bai Lu takes a fancy to you, she can take you away anytime—no objections from me.”

Bai Lu sneered, “Qingying, where are you taking me exactly? Are you going to drive a while, then tell me there are no rooms left at Tenglong Villa, and take me to some other resort instead?”

No other resort in Qingyang City could compare to Tenglong Villa—one with mountains, water, and such private, spacious grounds. Tenglong Villa was a high-end place, only twenty rooms available each day, exclusive and quiet, making guests feel right at home.

When Bai Lu said this, Li Qingying suddenly felt nervous.

That’s right. Last night, He Haoxuan had sworn there would be no problem, but after all, his friend was just a security guard and might not have the authority.

If even the backup rooms were taken, they’d be humiliated, and Bai Lu would certainly resent her.

Seeing Li Qingying so anxious and worriedly watching He Haoxuan, Bai Lu became even more certain of her suspicions. Clearly, He Haoxuan wouldn’t be able to book a room at Tenglong Villa.

She had even said that if they could get a room there within a week, she’d admit their capability.

But before she could mention the time frame last night, Li Qingying called to say the reservation was made.

How could that be possible? Unless Li Qingying was the owner of Tenglong Villa, there was no way she’d get a room for the very next day.

Usually, rooms were booked out three days in advance. Who did Li Qingying think she was?

Hmph, just wait and see. Bai Lu was eager to watch whatever drama these two had planned.

She thought He Haoxuan would soon pull over to take a call, then tell them there were no rooms at Tenglong Villa, and turn back.

But He Haoxuan kept driving. When they reached the entrance of Tenglong Villa and saw a sign reading, “The road ahead belongs to Tenglong Villa. Unauthorized vehicles, do not enter,” Bai Lu was stunned.

“He Haoxuan, we’ve arrived at Tenglong Villa? Aren’t you going to take a call?” Bai Lu asked.

“Who would I be calling? We’re just going in,” He Haoxuan replied with an indifferent smile.

Li Qingying asked He Haoxuan softly, “Is your friend on duty today?”

“He’s not here today—he has something urgent elsewhere,” He Haoxuan shook his head.

“What?” Li Qingying grew worried.

If He Haoxuan’s friend wasn’t here, how would they get in?

“Don’t worry, he already arranged everything. We just need to go in,” He Haoxuan reassured her.

Originally, Fang Yongsheng was supposed to come, but urgent matters at the group kept him away that morning.

After all, Tenglong Villa belonged to He Haoxuan, so he could do as he pleased. He’d already given instructions: anyone who dared offend He Haoxuan or his guests would be dismissed on the spot.

Seeing Li Qingying’s anxious face, Bai Lu sneered, “Qingying, are we not getting in after all?”

“We can go in,” He Haoxuan replied.

As the car approached, two security guards saluted them and waved them through without delay.

Bai Lu was puzzled. “Huh, what’s going on? I read online that when you come to Tenglong Villa, you’re supposed to stop here for a check—they confirm your room reservation before letting you in. Why didn’t we have to go through that?”

“They know our license plate,” He Haoxuan replied with a smile.

Li Qingying quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Even if He Haoxuan’s security guard friend wasn’t here, he’d clearly told the others in advance, so their car could pass without question.

The security guards were on their side; all they had to do was head to their room.

Thinking of this, Li Qingying asked, “Is it the same room as last time?”

“Yes,” He Haoxuan nodded.

There was no better room at Tenglong Villa than Room A, though Li Qingying didn’t know that. At this point, just having a backup room was good enough—hopefully Bai Lu wouldn’t complain.

As they entered, a small electric cart led them to their room. The security guards had already informed the manager, and service staff were preparing the room for their arrival.

“I can’t believe we haven’t been turned away. Am I really inside Tenglong Villa?” Bai Lu could hardly believe her eyes and pinched her thigh hard.

The BMW X7 stopped in front of Room A. A staff member hurried over to open the door for them. “Welcome.”

Bai Lu looked at the two beautiful female attendants and nodded to herself in approval. No wonder the charges here were so high—the service alone was worth every penny.

He Haoxuan and Li Qingying walked in confidently, with Bai Lu following behind.

Suddenly, Bai Lu pointed at the room number and exclaimed, “He Haoxuan, what’s going on? Tenglong Villa only has rooms numbered 1 to 20—how can there be a Room A?”
