Even during lunch, Luo Yixia had almost no appetite.

“Xiaxia, don’t you have an appetite? Is it not tasty?” Zhou Yun asked with concern.

“She’s just too full,” Song Chengyi, who rarely spoke up, replied.

But as soon as he finished, Luo Yixia shot him a glare.

They had agreed not to mention it…

Song Chengyi quickly explained, “She ate too much breakfast, probably isn’t hungry now.”

“Did you really eat that much? You girls always have small appetites. Xiaxia, eat as much as you want. If you’re not hungry, don’t force yourself,” Zhou Yun doted on Luo Yixia.

“Mm-hmm,” Luo Yixia nodded.

“She’s grown up now; you can’t keep spoiling her,” Yu Wenjing said, watching Luo Yixia act more and more unruly.

“Of course I’ll spoil Xiaxia—after all, she’s my future daughter-in-law!” On this point, Zhou Yun made no concessions to Yu Wenjing.

At this, Luo Yixia stuck her tongue out at Yu Wenjing, gloating mischievously.

Yu Wenjing could only hold back—her daughter really was a handful. Still, she felt reassured leaving Xiaxia in this family.

After lunch, Luo Yixia hurried upstairs, calling it her afternoon nap.

Song Chengyi stood by the bed, looking down at her. “Stop pretending. I know you don’t have the habit of napping.”

“Hah, I went to bed late last night, so I’m tired now,” Luo Yixia said, rubbing her eyes and yawning.

“Fine, napping is a good habit.” With that, Song Chengyi lifted the other side of the blanket and got in.

Luo Yixia immediately opened her eyes warily. “What are you doing?”

“Napping,” he replied, then turned over, back to her, and closed his eyes.

Luo Yixia’s lips twitched. She’d only wanted to stall for time, not actually take a nap.

She really didn’t have the habit of napping—how could she possibly fall asleep? And now, with Song Chengyi joining her, she was even less likely to drift off.

She sprawled on the bed in a starfish pose, wide awake, staring at the ceiling with growing annoyance.

She tossed and turned, rolling about, nothing like someone settling in for a nap.

On the other side, Song Chengyi opened his eyes calmly. “Aren’t you sleepy?”

Luo Yixia halted, pouting. “I’m sleepy. I’ll go to sleep right now.”

She turned her back to him, silently cursing his ancestors.

She closed her eyes, willing herself to sleep, but it was useless—she just couldn’t. Suddenly, she was pulled into his arms by a hand.

Luo Yixia opened her eyes and saw that Song Chengyi’s eyes were still closed, but she was already held tightly against him.

In a lazy, magnetic voice, Song Chengyi said, “Sleep.”

“Okay,” Luo Yixia replied obediently.

She lay with her back against his chest, listening to his gradually steady breathing, figuring he must have fallen asleep.

She didn’t dare move, afraid of waking him, so she lay still, yawning in boredom…

When she woke again, it was already two o’clock.

Song Chengyi was gone, but she heard the sound of water from the bathroom.

Luo Yixia got out of bed and stretched.

When Song Chengyi emerged from the bathroom, he saw that Luo Yixia was already up.

“I’m just going to freshen up a bit. I haven’t gone out yet,” he said.

Luo Yixia didn’t reply, just hurried into the bathroom herself.

By the time she was done, twenty minutes had passed.

Song Chengyi was still waiting in the room.

“Let’s go,” he said.

“Go where?” Luo Yixia asked.

“What do you think?” Song Chengyi smiled, walking over and taking her hand.

When they went downstairs, both families were in the living room.

“Moms, dads, what are you all up to?” Luo Yixia called out to both sets of parents.

Both Song’s and Luo’s fathers should have been at work during the day—how come everyone was home now?

“Oh, you’re awake? Come here. Help us pick—we’re planning a trip for the National Day holiday. Both companies are on break, so we thought both families could travel together. Your brother is off too,” Zhou Yun said, pulling Luo Yixia over to pick a destination.

“A trip?” Luo Yixia’s lips twitched.

“Xiaxia, where do you and Chengyi want to go?”

“Mom, you guys go ahead. Xiaxia and I will stay home,” Song Chengyi said, pulling Luo Yixia aside.

“Why? Wouldn’t it be fun to go together?” Everyone looked at Song Chengyi.

“We just went on a trip not long ago. Since we finally have a break, we’d like to stay home,” he said—echoing Luo Yixia’s thoughts. She really just wanted to relax at home.

“You all go have fun. I’ll take Xiaxia out for now,” Song Chengyi said, leading her away.

Luo Yixia waved. “Moms, dads, Zeming, you all go ahead. We’re fine at home.”

“Didn’t they say they didn’t want to go out?” Zhou Yun mumbled, watching them leave.

Song Zeming smiled. “Chengyi probably just wants to spend time alone with Xiaxia.”

Suddenly, the two mothers exchanged a glance and made a pact.

“Great, alone time is wonderful! I’ll book the tickets right away—we’ll leave now and let the young couple have the house to themselves.”

“Zhou Yun, I have a feeling—when we come back, we may have a grandchild.”

The three men left in the living room fell silent.

Never mind that Xiaxia was still so young, and they were both still in college. Besides, the National Day holiday is only seven days—how could there be a baby so soon?

Of course, none of them argued.

After Song Chengyi and Luo Yixia left, they didn’t drive, but strolled slowly down the street.

“It’s a bit hot,” Luo Yixia said, glancing up at the afternoon sun.

“It’s not so bad,” Song Chengyi replied, shielding his eyes from the sun with a hand.

For some reason, Luo Yixia swallowed. How could every move of his be so alluring?

They left the neighborhood and hailed a cab to the city center, as it was still quite a walk.

After getting out on the bustling street, Luo Yixia didn’t feel like walking further.

Song Chengyi seemed to notice and immediately took her hand, dragging her toward a salon.

Before she knew it, Luo Yixia was seated in a chair, with a stylist holding scissors and comb, sizing up her hair.

“Would you like a perm?” the stylist asked.

“A cut,” Song Chengyi answered.

“How short?” The stylist looked at Luo Yixia’s thick hair.

“Just trim it a bit,” Song Chengyi said, unsure how much she’d accept. He had tricked and coaxed her into coming but didn’t want to go too far.

“Shoulder-length bob,” Luo Yixia suddenly declared.

Song Chengyi frowned at her—had something upset her? Was she just talking nonsense?

“You’ve been growing this hair for over a decade, haven’t you? Are you sure you want to cut it all off? It’ll take years to grow it back. Maybe just a trim? Or try some waves or curls?” Even the stylist felt sorry for her long hair.

“Shoulder-length bob,” Luo Yixia insisted.

“Are you sure?” Song Chengyi asked.

“Yes. If I’m going to cut it, I’ll cut it short,” she confirmed.

“All right, go ahead,” Song Chengyi said, sitting down on the sofa.

Seeing both of them so firm, the stylist said no more and started to cut.

As the scissors snipped, Luo Yixia shut her eyes in pain.

Over a decade of care—gone…

Even when the cut was done, her eyes were still red.

Once the basic shape was finished, the stylist began to tidy it up.

Song Chengyi glanced at the pile of long hair on the floor, feeling a complicated emotion.

A few minutes later—

“All done! You’re so pretty you can pull off anything,” the stylist praised.

Luo Yixia stared at her reflection in the mirror.

Her long hair was gone, replaced by a neat, shoulder-length bob.

Song Chengyi, who’d also just finished his haircut, came over and stopped in surprise.

Though her long hair was gone, her short hair gave her a lively, playful look—adorably charming.

“Good looks make all the difference. You only cut your hair a bit, but you still look so cool,” Luo Yixia grumbled, glancing at Song Chengyi with dissatisfaction.

“Are you talking about yourself?” Song Chengyi smiled at her.

Luo Yixia just assumed he was trying to comfort her.

After Song Chengyi paid, the two of them left the salon.

A few stylists gathered together.

“I wish I had such a handsome boyfriend,” said the girl who’d just cut Song Chengyi’s hair.

“You’d need her looks for that,” the one who’d cut Luo Yixia’s hair retorted.

Outside the salon, Luo Yixia still felt a little awkward. She reached up to brush her hair, only to find the familiar weight on her shoulders gone—she’d already forgotten she’d just had it cut.

Song Chengyi noticed her discomfort.

“Why did you want to cut it so short?”

“Mm, let’s just call it a new beginning,” Luo Yixia replied, smiling at him.

Song Chengyi nodded.

They didn’t hurry home, mainly to avoid being dragged back into trip planning.

Instead, they wandered aimlessly down the street.

Unsurprisingly, Luo Yixia couldn’t resist her foodie instincts.

Before they knew it, they’d drifted to the snack street.

Song Chengyi could only indulge her—after all, she’d just made a big change and deserved a little treat.

Faced with delicious food, Luo Yixia lost all self-control.

She ate and snapped photos at the same time, even taking a selfie.

Song Chengyi waited patiently by her side, but when she took photos, he always stepped aside to avoid being in the frame.

Afterward, Luo Yixia posted a grid of nine photos on her social feed, with a selfie in the center.

She reviewed it twice, very satisfied.

Just with the octopus balls, Luo Yixia had eaten several. Then she bought a portion of stinky tofu and couldn’t resist trying to share it with Song Chengyi.

But Song Chengyi just frowned and kept his distance.

“Try this stinky tofu—it’s really good,” Luo Yixia said, poking one toward him with a skewer.

Song Chengyi retreated in disgust.
