Chapter 139: The Weather Has Turned Cold
"I... I was at the infirmary at the time, and the doctor was still there, so I felt too embarrassed to say anything. Later on, it didn't hurt as much, so I didn't tell you..." Luo Yixia poked him in the back.
Song Chengyi didn't respond.
"I was wrong." Luo Yixia felt it was better to just apologize; no matter what, she should admit she was wrong first.
Song Chengyi still didn't respond.
Luo Yixia propped herself up halfway, looking at the person beside her who was not only facing away from her but had also closed his eyes.
She pouted. He couldn't just ignore her like this. After all, he was the one who took advantage of her earlier.
"Song Chengyi, are you asleep?" Luo Yixia called out deliberately.
"Are you really asleep?" She leaned in slowly and took a deep breath.
*Fortune favors the bold...*
She went to kiss the shell of his ear and felt Song Chengyi shudder.
Luo Yixia curled her lips; this was exactly the reaction she wanted.
"Song Chengyi, are you truly asleep?" she whispered in his ear.
He still kept his eyes closed and ignored her.
Luo Yixia thought, *Well, if you won't pay attention to me, then don't blame me for being rude.*
She reached out with her small hand and stealthily lifted his shirt, sliding her palm from his waist up to his abdominal muscles.
*Wow, these feel amazing. Not bad at all.*
Luo Yixia tried to explore further upward. This was the first time she had touched his abs; she would have to write a diary entry to commemorate this later...
While she was giggling to herself, Song Chengyi was taking several sharp breaths. *Has this girl gone crazy?* She was still pestering him...
He couldn't take it anymore.
Through the fabric of his shirt, Song Chengyi grabbed her hand, his voice raspy. "Are you looking for trouble?"
Luo Yixia froze. *He can't hold back anymore? No, wait, I haven't touched enough yet.*
"You're the one who was ignoring me!" she said, trying to pull her hand back, but she couldn't; he was holding it too tightly.
Song Chengyi rolled over and sat up, staring at her with slightly bloodshot eyes.
Seeing his expression, Luo Yixia knew she had stepped on a tiger's tail. He was genuinely angry. She instinctively wanted to run, but just as she prepared to get out of bed, Song Chengyi grabbed her by the waist.
"I... I... I was wrong," Luo Yixia stammered, terrified.
Song Chengyi bit down on her uninjured left shoulder.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch, that hurts!" Luo Yixia pushed him away.
Song Chengyi let go, and Luo Yixia immediately checked her shoulder. There was a tooth mark, but the skin hadn't broken.
"Are you a dog? Why are you biting people?" Her eyes turned red. *Why does he have to bite people just because he's angry?*
"Would you like to bite me back?" Song Chengyi asked with a roguish smirk.
Luo Yixia glared at him.
Song Chengyi rested his head in the crook of her neck. "I'm uncomfortable."
"Where? Where are you uncomfortable?" Luo Yixia was startled. *What's wrong?* His voice sounded so aggrieved... she couldn't figure out what was going on.
"What do you think?" Song Chengyi gritted his teeth against her ear.
Luo Yixia was even more confused about what she had done to him.
"Luo Yixia, I really want to have my way with you."
When the dazed Luo Yixia heard this, she immediately understood and blushed. *I must have been flirting with him earlier, is he reacting to that?*
She stole a downward glance, but his clothes were too loose, and she couldn't see anything.
The thought wouldn't leave her mind. *Why am I so easily swayed by lust?*
"Oh." Not knowing how else to respond, that was all she said.
Song Chengyi sighed. "Why do you have to torment me like this?"
What kind of tone was that? Luo Yixia’s stubborn nature flared up; how could he be unhappy when he said it like that?
Luo Yixia pushed him away indignantly. "How am I tormenting you? You were the one who ignored me first, so I... I..." She was too embarrassed to finish, so she slowly added, "It's not like I'm not letting you touch me, or that I forced you to hold back."
As soon as she finished speaking, Luo Yixia realized what a ridiculous thing she had just said... She was mortified.
Song Chengyi looked at her and laughed softly.
"Is that so? Does that mean I'm allowed to touch you?"
Luo Yixia didn't know when Song Chengyi had become so shameless. He was acting more and more like a rogue...
Seeing her face flushed beet-red, Song Chengyi stopped teasing her. "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. You're injured, so we'll leave it for next time. But next time, I won't let you off the hook."
He gritted his teeth as he said the last few words.
Luo Yixia felt a sense of relief, but at the same time, she felt a strange flicker of regret...
After saying this, Song Chengyi moved to get up.
"Are you going to take a cold shower?" Luo Yixia asked naively.
Song Chengyi paused and sat back down.
"What? Does that make you happy?" He raised an eyebrow.
Luo Yixia quickly shook her head and waved her hands. "No, no."
For a long time, neither of them spoke. Song Chengyi kept staring at her, making Luo Yixia feel quite uneasy.
"Go take your shower." She pushed him, trying to stop him from looking at her.
Song Chengyi sighed. "I'm not going."
"Huh?" She blinked, stunned. *If he doesn't resolve this, won't he be really uncomfortable?*
"It's cold out, I don't want to take a cold shower," he said, staring at her languidly.
"Then... then what should we do?" She hadn't asked on purpose, nor had she intended to look down.
"Where are you looking?" Song Chengyi asked fiercely.
"I... I..." Luo Yixia stuttered even more after he snapped at her.
Song Chengyi reached out and pulled her into his arms. He blew a breath into her ear. "Help me..."
Luo Yixia wanted to say, *Didn't you say I'm injured? Why do I have to help you?* But Song Chengyi grabbed her hand and pressed it against him.
Luo Yixia bit her lip, her face turning so red it looked like it was bleeding. She tried to struggle, but Song Chengyi held her hand even tighter.
"I... I'm injured..."
"Your hand isn't injured..."
Luo Yixia didn't know how long he tormented her. This time, unlike before, he didn't let her off the hook. Although he was mindful of her injury, he felt that if he kept indulging her, she would learn to lie and even continue to tease him.
By the end, her arms felt like they were going to fall off; they were so sore she couldn't even lift them, but Song Chengyi still wouldn't stop. Luo Yixia cried out several times that she was sleepy and wanted to go to bed, but he still didn't let her go.
Watching her drift off to sleep, Song Chengyi kissed the corner of her mouth, cleaned up, and held her happily as he drifted off himself. He thought to himself that he had been far too self-restrained before.
Luo Yixia didn't wake up until late the next morning. When she woke, there was no one beside her.
Some of the more "disharmonious" memories flooded her mind, and her face, which had finally cooled down, flushed red once again. She rushed to the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face to clear her head.
Walking into the living room, she saw her breakfast and a note left by Song Chengyi.
[I'm heading to school, I'll be back soon. Don't wander off when you wake up. Breakfast is on the table.]
A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth before she knew it.
After breakfast, she sat on the sofa, watching TV and scrolling through her phone. There was one more day of the sports meet, but fortunately, she hadn't signed up for any other events. She watched some videos people had posted—people tripping on flat ground during the long jump, face-planting at the finish line during the race, and falling over during the high jump before even clearing the bar.
She felt much better; it wasn't just her who had become a joke—everyone else wasn't much better. But then she scrolled to the award ceremony videos and felt a pang of sadness. Still, at least the relay team had managed to take first place.
She replied to a few messages from people asking about her injury with short, simple answers.
Then, she heard the sound of keys in the lock. Luo Yixia turned around and locked eyes with Song Chengyi, who had just stepped inside.
Their eyes met, and both felt an inexplicable sense of awkwardness. Luo Yixia blushed and turned her head away, while Song Chengyi cleared his throat to mask his own embarrassment.
He had bought groceries on the way back and was now in the kitchen unpacking them. Luo Yixia felt it was improper to just sit there and let him serve her, so she hopped up and went to the kitchen.
"Do you need help?" she asked, watching him wash the vegetables.
"It's fine, go rest," he said, not letting her help.
But Luo Yixia didn't leave; she leaned against the counter and chatted with him.
"If you're busy at school, you can go ahead. I'll be fine on my own."
"I'm done with being busy; my events are over, so there's nothing left for me to do."
"Oh."
Silence fell between them.
"What are we having for lunch?" Luo Yixia felt she needed to keep the conversation going.
"I'll make you some soup."
"Okay, okay, I'm not a picky eater." Luo Yixia nodded. She would eat whatever he made anyway.
After lunch, they sat on the sofa watching TV.
Song Chengyi suddenly said, "I was grading your sophomore papers a few days ago and noticed that most of you didn't do very well. Was the test that hard?"
Luo Yixia had forgotten that she had just finished her midterms, and the results would probably be out tomorrow evening... *Oh my god, it's only been a few days, why is it so fast? I don't want to face reality.*
"The test was hard, way too hard," Luo Yixia lamented with a sad face.
"Is that so?" Song Chengyi reached out and pinched her cheek, finding her very cute.
"So, I probably didn't do well. I might have failed again," she said, using the opportunity to play the victim.
"But there were high scores, too. I saw Xu Jiayu's, right? Your roommate. She did very well, first in the year," Song Chengyi said deliberately.
"Jiayu is different. She's not like me. We aren't on the same level; there's a huge gap." Luo Yixia had always felt like Xu Jiayu was running on cheats. But that was normal; she worked hard all the time. Even though their dorm room was usually noisy, Xu Jiayu would always study silently at night. It would be weirder if she didn't do well.
"What about me... did you see mine?" Luo Yixia asked, feeling both nervous and conflicted.
"No, I didn't have time to look for yours. I only looked at the top scores," Song Chengyi said.
Luo Yixia breathed a secret sigh of relief. *At least he didn't see it.*
"What about you? How did you do?"
"I thought the questions were quite easy. First place shouldn't be a problem."
*People are truly incomparable...*
