Chapter 134: The Return of the Thunder God
“Are you insane?” Hearing this, Sif and the three warriors of the celestial palace were stunned. The four of them widened their eyes, staring at Thor as if he had lost his mind.
Sif, even more agitated, said, “Do you know what you’re saying? You want to risk your life for this little town. You’re completely mad.”
“I’m not mad. On the contrary, I’m very clear-headed,” Thor’s gaze was deeper than ever before. He stared fixedly in the direction of the Destroyer mech and spoke slowly, word by word.
“After becoming an ordinary man, I realized how fragile ordinary people without superpowers truly are. A single careless decision from us can mean life or death for them.”
“This town is in crisis because of me. The people here are innocent; there’s no reason to drag them into the flames of war. As the crown prince of Asgard and guardian of the Nine Realms, this is a responsibility I must bear.”
“Since the war began because of me, it should end because of me. If you truly want to help, then help evacuate the civilians of the town and protect their safety. Please.”
With that, Thor took a deep breath, his steps resolute, and turned toward the Destroyer mech.
If this were a movie, at this moment, a stirring and heroic score would surely swell, reflecting the tragic grandeur of the wind howling and the icy river flowing.
“Aren’t you going to act yet?” Seeing this, Nick Fury couldn’t help but glance at Gu Zhongyan beside him.
This fellow, who always liked to meddle, still hadn’t moved a muscle, which made Fury’s keen instincts sense something was wrong.
Gu Zhongyan smiled upon hearing this. “Don’t worry, I don’t need to intervene. Look, here it comes.”
Here it comes? What comes?
Nick Fury instinctively looked in the direction Gu Zhongyan pointed.
In the sky, dark storm clouds were gathering. Thunder flashed intermittently behind the clouds, and occasional rumbles echoed like the wrath of the gods ready to descend.
Amid the explosive lightning and rolling black clouds, a dazzling light tore through the heavens. To everyone’s astonishment, Thor’s hammer suddenly lifted off the ground, soared into the sky, and flew toward Thor.
The sky grew turbulent, lightning flashing wildly, invisible air currents twisting into a massive tornado, with sand and stones flying everywhere.
Bang!
A tremendous roar shook the clouds as a heavy hand grasped the cold handle. A bolt of lightning descended from the heavens, and amid the brilliant thunder, a powerful force surged forth from Thor’s body.
The mysterious uru metal forged a dazzling armor that enveloped his sculpted, perfect form, while a crimson cape, like flickering flames, floated behind him.
At that moment, lightning streaked across the darkened sky, casting a long shadow of his towering figure. Time seemed to stand still.
Seeing this, Gu Zhongyan’s lips curled into a subtle smile, a glint of understanding flashing in his eyes.
Indeed, Thor, who truly understands what war means and is willing to lay down his life for it, is worthy of wielding Mjolnir.
This was far superior to the original storyline where Thor was nearly killed and Odin intervened secretly.
Noticing Gu Zhongyan’s smile, Nick Fury suddenly realized why he had remained unmoved. This was likely a stage that Gu Zhongyan had secretly set for Thor.
Without considering the two lurking in the shadows, on the other side, Thor, gripping Mjolnir and having regained his divine power, shot silver lightning from his eyes. With a whoosh, he charged at the Destroyer mech amid the thunderous roar.
Boom! Boom!
Thunder rolled continuously, sparks flying everywhere.
Mjolnir smashed fiercely onto the Destroyer mech, scattering brilliant sparks. The guardian, crafted with Asgard’s most advanced technology, instantly bore a deep dent.
However, the uru metal on the Destroyer mech soon rippled like living scales, restoring itself smoothly.
At the head, mechanical plates opened layer by layer, revealing parts ablaze with fire.
Boom!
A blazing red laser pierced through the thick clouds like a meteor from the sky, hurtling toward Thor.
Thor’s expression was stern, utterly ignoring the scorching beam. With Mjolnir spinning like a propeller, he struck down hard.
Clash!
The red laser shattered like a severed solid object, exploding amid the dazzling lightning.
The relentless thunder roared through the air, and the intense lightning cast a flickering light across the world.
The fully unleashed power of the Thunder God was undoubtedly strong enough to shake the world.
Everyone stared in awe at the fierce battle raging in the sky between Thor and the Destroyer mech. The increasing roar signaled the fight had reached its climax.
Amid the dazzling light, Mjolnir in Thor’s hand emitted an unprecedented surge of thunderous energy.
Facing the Destroyer mech, towering several times his height, the golden-haired man with his hair flying showed no retreat. Lightning flashed in his eyes as he gripped the handle tightly and struck the massive machine with all his might.
Boom!
After a violent explosion, even uru metal with self-repairing abilities was helpless against this weapon forged in the heart of a star.
The once invincible mechanical body shattered like iron shards under the thunder, becoming countless charred fragments scattered across the ground.
Just one blow, and the terrifying Destroyer mech—Asgard’s most advanced creation—was completely defeated and reduced to rubble.
In the town, people watched in stunned silence. Fear and despair seemed to vanish along with that single strike.
The thunder and dark clouds had vanished without anyone noticing. On the Destroyer mech’s ruined carcass, Thor looked over the town shattered into ruins by the battle. His face showed no joy of victory, only an indescribable bewilderment.
Clap, clap, clap.
At that moment, crisp applause sounded. Thor instinctively looked up. Loki appeared from the air, wearing pale golden scale armor, a dark green cloak hanging from his shoulders, and a horned helmet, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“Loki?”
Thor’s eyes widened instantly, a flash of anger bursting forth. Grabbing Loki’s collar, he hoisted him up roughly.
“Oh, oh, calm down, calm down. I’m only doing this for your own good,” Loki hastily waved his hands.
“You still dare talk, Loki! You’ve gone too far. Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson and make you pay for your crimes,” Thor gritted his teeth, raising Mjolnir to strike.
Loki quickly shouted, “Damn sorcerer, aren’t you going to come out and say something? I’m telling you, if you don’t, I’m done.”
At the same time, a phantom flickered through the air. Gu Zhongyan appeared beside them, holding Thor’s raised hand to stop the attack. He said seriously, “Thor, don’t be angry yet. This is only a test.”
