After clarifying some details about the Yuan One Staff and Morgan le Fay, Gu Chongyan did not rush to summon Nicole to strike the Yuan One Staff again.

Although he was eager to uncover the staff’s secrets and deepen his magical foundation as soon as possible, he understood all too well that haste makes waste. Whether in science or magic, there was no room for even the slightest mistake.

The Yuan One Staff, the Dark Dimension, Morgan le Fay—none of these were simple matters. Acting rashly might not necessarily be life-threatening but would certainly invite unnecessary trouble.

Take, for instance, the original storyline where several children accidentally entered the Dark Dimension and, after a hard-fought escape, found that over six months had passed in this world.

In such a world of constant change, so much could happen in six months. Missing a crucial plot point might mean never having another chance.

Gu Chongyan still felt the sting when he thought about the opportunity lost when Tony was captured.

The secrets of the Yuan One Staff had to be mastered, but only with full preparation.

At present, Gu Chongyan had plenty on his plate: the Young Defenders Alliance had yet to officially launch, Johnny Brace was still stranded in Sacramento with no updates.

On top of that, he had to deal with the parents of the Young Defenders, arrange for Su Yan and Richard’s futures, and get in touch with Black Salt Egg.

With so many messy affairs unsettled, how could he set his mind at ease to explore the mysterious realm of magic?

Soon, Gu Chongyan summoned the six boys and girls to the restored meeting room.

Seeing their puzzled faces, he said, “I previously mentioned that you are to form the Young Defenders Alliance, responsible for maintaining peace in Los Angeles and even the entire western region.”

“This places extremely high demands on your abilities. So today, I’ve called you here for special training.”

“Nico, how is your reading of those two books on magical theory coming along?” Gu Chongyan turned to look at Nicole.

The cold, goth-styled girl nodded slightly and said lightly, “Almost done. I’ve grasped the basics of the magical theory.”

“Very good.” Gu Chongyan nodded with satisfaction. “Magic is a vast field, no less complex than science. You wield the Yuan One Staff, which already gives you a stronger starting point than many mages.”

“But a powerful start is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The Yuan One Staff is a formidable magical weapon but is also prone to backlash. Unless you encounter combat, don’t use the Yuan One Staff anymore. Focus on learning the fundamentals of magic well.”

He then looked to the other three girls.

“Your superpowers, more or less, stem from the Giborim. So to enhance your abilities, you’ll also need their help.”

“Zanwen.”

Gu Chongyan called out, and the six saw a man with a blank expression, almost robotic, appear out of thin air.

This man was the electromagnetic lifeform resembling a dazzling aurora whom Gu Chongyan had captured in that pit.

Originally, Gu Chongyan planned to use him as a test subject, but after communicating, he discovered Zanwen’s deep understanding of the Giborim and his ability to help enhance the others’ powers. So Gu Chongyan spared him.

After learning the truth of the prophecy from Gu Chongyan, Zanwen promised to act as his assistant until they left Earth, helping analyze alien technology and train the Young Defenders.

“This is Zanwen. He has spent a long time among the Giborim and knows them well.”

“Karolina, Molly, and Gert, with his help, you will absorb the Giborim’s power to strengthen yourselves.”

“Like how they devour other humans?” Karolina frowned at this, and the others displayed looks of resistance.

They clearly misunderstood and thought Gu Chongyan was asking them to devour others like the Giborim.

Gu Chongyan shook his head. Having seen many superheroes and now leading several, he knew well their characters.

Though their personalities differed, they were resolute in many ways. They would never commit acts like devouring other lives.

If forced, they might even turn against him.

“You’ve misunderstood. You won’t devour them but absorb their power.”

Seeing they still didn’t understand, Gu Chongyan continued, “The Giborim’s power comes from light. They can convert light into energy.”

“Your superpowers originate from them, so theoretically, you also have the ability to convert light into your own power.”

“To absorb their power means to absorb the light they create, not their life force.”

“It’s like how humans breathe oxygen released by plants through photosynthesis—a completely different matter from their devouring humans.”

“If you don’t believe me, Karolina can try first. She has typical Giborim blood and can easily tell if this is true or false,” Gu Chongyan said, spreading his hands.

Upon hearing this, although still somewhat doubtful, the group relaxed.

As long as it wasn’t about ‘eating’ the Giborim, they were willing to try.

“What about the two of us?” Seeing the girls getting their assignments, Chase and Alex grew anxious.

As males with little combat power in the group, they already felt a loss of face. Now that training was starting and they had no role, they felt even more out of place.

Gu Chongyan smiled, “Don’t worry. I’m very concerned about you two. I’ve chosen the best teacher for you. He’s the world’s smartest mechanical and internet genius.”

“If you can reach seventy percent of his level, you’ll be able to dominate this world. Wait here; I’ll introduce you.”

With that, Gu Chongyan took out his phone and made a call.

Beep... beep... beep...

After a brief busy signal, a flustered voice came through the receiver.

“Hey, wizard kid, this isn’t a good time for your call, big thanks for the fancy gift!”

Hearing the somewhat unserious, heavy-breathing voice on the other end, Gu Chongyan’s brow instinctively furrowed.

“Tony, I think I already messaged you before, asking you to teach these two kids about machinery and the internet.”

“And if I’m not mistaken, you agreed and arranged to meet them tonight for a proper session.”

“So why now—”

Before Gu Chongyan could finish, an urgent voice interrupted from the other side.

“I know, I know, but something just came up... OH MY GOD! Forget it, you better see for yourself.”
