Staring at the deserted bar, now littered with ashes and bloodstains, Blade’s icy, stoic face suddenly cracked. He looked utterly bewildered, as if he were a country bumpkin wandering through a grand palace, dazed and out of place. Had Gu Chongyan been there, he would have teased him, “Buddy, your aura’s slipping.” Blade stared in disbelief at the spot where Gu Chongyan and Lilith had once stood, even suspecting he might be hallucinating.

His brows knit tightly as he flung several throwing knives. They whistled through the air, sweeping every corner of the bar, but there was still no trace of Gu Chongyan or Lilith. No matter how unwilling he was to accept it, Blade had no choice but to concede that the two had vanished.

Suddenly, the shrill wail of police sirens shattered the midnight quiet—the gunfire from the recent battle had alerted the local authorities. Not wanting to clash with the police, Blade glanced again at the spot where Gu Chongyan disappeared, a flicker of frustration in his eyes, then slipped through the window and landed in a remote alley.

There, a black car had been waiting for some time. Blade strode swiftly forward, opened the passenger door, and slid inside. The driver, an elderly man with a head of white hair but a vigorous spirit, started the engine and steered the car out of the alley.

Noticing Blade’s furrowed brow, the old man arched an eyebrow. “Why the grim face? Don’t tell me a few mongrels got away?”

“No,” Blade replied, then quickly corrected himself. “Well, not exactly. To be precise, maybe one.”

His odd answer caught the old man’s attention, and he sensed something unusual. “What happened?” he pressed.

Blade didn’t reply directly, but instead asked, “Whistler, you’ve hunted vampires for years. Have you ever heard of a wizard?”

“A wizard?” Whistler was taken aback. “Why bring that up? Been reading trashy novels?”

“No.” Blade shook his head, recalling the disappearance of Gu Chongyan right before his eyes. He said uncertainly, “If he wasn’t lying, I think I met a wizard today.”

The tires screeched sharply as Whistler slammed the brakes, and the black car halted steadily on the roadside.

Whistler’s expression grew tense as he fixed his gaze on Blade. “Eric, what exactly did you see in that bar? Tell me.”

Blade didn’t hide anything. He recounted the events in the bar, detail by detail.

Whistler’s brow remained furrowed. “So you’re saying, a Chinese youth claiming to be a wizard stopped you from killing the last vampire mongrel, saying he wanted to use her as an experimental subject. Then, by some unknown means, he vanished from the spot with her?”

“That’s right,” Blade nodded. “At first, I thought he’d been beguiled by the female vampire. But after he revealed that special ability, I wasn’t so sure anymore.”

“Are you certain he really disappeared—not just some trick, like stage magic or optical illusion?” Whistler couldn’t quite believe it.

“I don’t think so. I sensed nothing left of him in the bar, and I searched every corner.” Blade shook his head and repeated his earlier question. “Whistler, after so many years hunting vampires, you really haven’t heard of wizards?”

Whistler shook his head. “Sorry, kid. Like you, this is the first I’ve heard of it. Though I’ve seen mention of wizards in plenty of texts, I always thought it was just legend. Seems the world is stranger than we imagined.”

“What worries me is what the boy wizard intends to do with the vampire mongrel. If he’s on our side, all the better. But if not—oh God! If a wizard who can teleport becomes our enemy, that’s terrifying.”

While the two speculated about Gu Chongyan’s intentions, elsewhere, Gu Chongyan had already brought Lilith back to his room.

To appear in the blink of an eye from the bar to a room of unknown location was a marvel, even for a vampire. Lilith’s eyes widened in disbelief at the scene before her. She even forgot the terror she’d felt moments ago facing Blade.

“You—you really are a wizard. My God! This is incredible; I don’t even know what to say,” she exclaimed, her gaze turning feverish as she greedily eyed Gu Chongyan. Her S-shaped figure undulated with impossible suppleness, like a seductive serpent.

Her sultry eyes, gently biting her red lips, radiated an irresistible allure, presenting her pale bosom with such abandon that Gu Chongyan could see the endless abyss at her heart without even lowering his gaze.

“My dear wizard, how should I thank you for rescuing me from the hands of Death?” Lilith blushed, breathing in a suggestive haze, as a tense atmosphere filled the room.

Gu Chongyan sneered coldly, unmoved by the display before him. “Miss Lilith, you misunderstand. I have no interest in a vampire disguised in human skin. I brought you here solely because you’re suitable as my experimental subject—nothing more.”

“Put away your coquettish antics. In fact, you’ll soon find you can’t pose like that at all.” He mocked her, walking straight to the wardrobe and opening its door.

“What?” Lilith, flushed and eager, suddenly seemed drenched head-to-toe in cold water, stunned and speechless.

Before she could react, Gu Chongyan raised his wand and flicked it at her. An invisible force swept her up. With a scream, Lilith was tossed into the wardrobe like a rag doll.

But the expected jarring impact never came. To her astonishment, the wardrobe’s interior was impossibly vast—a space the size of a standalone villa, hidden behind the wardrobe’s door. Medieval architecture, strange statues and runes abounded, and in one corner, a large cauldron simmered with unknown liquid.

Glass and crystal bottles, gold and silver vessels, gemstone spheres littered the area, along with uncut wood and metal materials.

“Oh my God! What is happening?” Lilith’s eyes widened in disbelief at the scene, even forgetting she’d been thrown in by magic.

“The Undetectable Extension Charm—a very practical advanced spell. Unfortunately, my current magic power and available materials are lacking, so this is as far as I can manage for now,” said Gu Chongyan.
