He had only just sealed three humanoid orbs of light when a fierce wind and pounding rain erupted overhead.
Realizing the members of the Celestial Pride Society had arrived, Gu Zhongyan did not waste a heartbeat. He packed the three orbs into the alchemical cauldron and moved to cast an Illusory Relocation spell.

Just then, a faint tremor of energy flickered silently through the air.

If Gu Zhongyan had not already restored his magic to its former peak—his control over the surroundings sharpened by more than a mere degree—he might not even have sensed that force.

“Hmm?” He halted mid-motion and instinctively loosed a spell.
“Manifest at once!”

The silver light that had once pulled the Wind Devil out of invisibility rippled through the pit again, spreading like waves.

Beneath that silver sheen, a strange aurora-like electromagnetic glow appeared in the air.
Though it was unlike the Gibolumians, it was clearly a special life form; from its very power of invisibility, he could tell it could warp optical structure.

Noticing it had been exposed, the aurora-like electromagnetic glow did not hesitate. It shot straight out of the pit.

Clearly, having seen Gu Zhongyan’s might, it had no intention of learning anything from the Gibolumians.

By then, Gu Zhongyan had also realized the source of this electromagnetic mass.

In the story, besides the Gibolumian antagonists, there was another alien being: a Zandanite named Zanwen.
Though he came to Earth with the Gibolumians, it was because of a prophecy that said his wife would be a daughter born of a Gibolumian judge and a human being. Once they united, his homeworld would be saved.
For this reason he had come to Earth with them, served as their starship pilot, and had been buried there for ten thousand years.

After breaking free, he took Carolina to be his destined wife, when in truth the intended one was Carolina’s sister—one not yet born.

Though, by story logic, this fellow Zanwen was not truly a villain, to Gu Zhongyan he was no different from the Gibolumians. To him, they were all aliens.
If it had not been for that so-called prophecy, he would likely have been on their side as well—catching one or two would have satisfied him enough.
In any case, he figured they should be captured first; if they posed no real threat, release could come later.

“Seal it quickly!”

At once Gu Zhongyan snapped his wand, and a dazzling red beam instantly became invisible chains. With a ringing metallic crash, they bound the electromagnetic light in an instant.
He then flicked his wand again, flinging it into the alchemical cauldron to join the three Gibolumians.

When he returned to the ground, the battle between the two sides was already in full fury.

Under the dim sky, a middle-aged man radiating white light stood out starkly, as if a small sun himself, flinging out searing shockwaves.
The blinding radiance, like sharp lances, tore through the air with a shrill hiss, charging straight at the Homebound Children’s Alliance.

He was Yona—the founder of the Celestial Pride Society, the Gibolumian Judge—then the chief villain of the drama’s early arc.

Compared with the three half-conscious Gibolumians in the pit, his power was unmistakably far greater; his fierce beam alone blazed at over three thousand degrees.
If only the Homebound Children’s Alliance fought alone, there would be no chance of victory unless little witch Nicole suddenly flared up into full strength.

Fortunately, they were not fighting single-handedly this time. Behind them stood a band of fearsome reinforcements.

For instance, opposing Yona’s devastating beam was none other than Su Yan.
Though merely a child—and two years younger than Jasmine, the youngest of the Alliance—Su Yan was not to be compared with her at all.

He had absorbed the powers of three demons, a budget-born version of Storm Girl, and now stood as the Son of Weather against Yona.

If Yona was a little sun fallen to earth, Su Yan was boundless rolling black storm cloud.

Wind rose and roared, currents whipped madly around him, snapping his clothes like sails in a gale.
Clouds thickened overhead, lightning and thunder split the sky, and the hurricane rain coiled into a screaming water tornado clinging to Yona like darkness intent on swallowing all light, determined to erase him.

Cold raindrops, mixed with hail, became in the storm a spray of machine-gun fire, scything toward Yona, and hissing whenever they struck the heat of his beam.
As heat and cold traded blows, thick steam swelled across the field, yet it never obscured the battle, for Su Yan folded each wisp into the wind and rain the moment it formed.

Though he looked only like a child, Su Yan was not only holding his own; he was even subtly suppressing Yona’s brilliance, making the brutal man beside the light boil with rage.

The ruined construction site had already irked Yona enough. He had never imagined that, in just a few days, those little brats could summon such a formidable ally.

When have Earth’s children become this troublesome? Is there some strange rule that the younger they are, the stronger they grow?

Not only Su Yan was fighting with such zeal. While he and Yona claimed the sky, on the ground the Homebound Children’s Alliance was also battling their parents.

Though their numbers were large, only two were truly bearing the main weight: Richard and Tina Minoru, the mother of the young witch Nicole, whom they believed to be from Kama-Taiji stock.

Though each possessed abilities, they were still children. Not everyone, as with Su Yan under Gu Zhongyan’s guidance, could bring their powers fully into play.

The Alliance’s children had abilities, yes, but they were wildgrown weeds in every sense. For various reasons, they could not unleash even half their strength and were easy to target.

On the other side, their parents mostly lacked superpowers, but they had grown-up minds and an ample supply of weapons.
They could have shaken those children’s combat power apart in a handful of rough exchanges. If the opponents had been parents instead, it would have been a massacre outright.

Especially since Richard had not yet fully mastered the Primordial One Staff; before the fight truly began, Tina had snatched it from him. It did nothing to help him, only to fortify their enemy.

Compared with Nicole’s half-baked grasp, Tina not only understood the Primordial One Staff, she was herself proficient in magic. With it in hand, her strength, though not equal to Yona’s, was enough to suppress them all.

Fortunately, they still had Richard.

And though Richard, like the Alliance, had little actual battle experience and only a rough sense of his own power, he nonetheless inherited power from one of the greatest sovereigns of a mighty planet in the cosmos. With his agile flight and energy-beam casts, he at least traded blows with Tina for a while.
