Chapter Ninety-One: Why Are You Stealing My Cookies?!
A few minutes later, Liu Ruoxi lifted her head and stared blankly. That was it?
The room fell into a dead silence.
“Keep going!” Qin Xuan felt scorn burning in Liu Ruoxi’s eyes. Damn it.
Another half hour passed. Looking at Liu Ruoxi’s retreating figure as she walked out, Qin Xuan let out a long, deep sigh.
Liu Ruoxi came back to the bed, muttering under her breath while shaking the water from her hands.
She leaned against Qin Xuan’s chest, the flush on her face still not faded. Seeing him lying there as if he were a corpse, she punched him in annoyance.
“Now can we sleep?” Liu Ruoxi asked, exhausted, lifting her head to look at Qin Xuan.
“Sleep, sleep,” Qin Xuan said softly, raising an arm to draw her shoulder into his embrace.
Liu Ruoxi looked at this idiot. So you really are just going to sleep? You are not helping me at all?
Pouting, she shoved away the arm around her and turned her back to him. Jerk. I never should have...
But the moment Liu Ruoxi turned around, Qin Xuan opened his eyes, pulled up the blanket, and covered her completely.
...
The next morning, Qin Lin’er looked at Ruoxi-jie in confusion as she kept flexing her hand from time to time. Even Qin Xuan, while eating, occasionally massaged both sides of his face. What is this? Did you two fight last night?
Seeing Qin Lin’er like that, Nan Zhiyi tapped her bowl with her chopsticks. Can you eat properly?
Still, looking at Qin Xuan and the others like that, she felt a little sour too.
Qin Xuan only then noticed Nan Zhiyi and remembered that he had forgotten to talk to Liu Ruoxi about her last night.
“Want to go out and have some fun?” Liu Ruoxi asked the others while rubbing her hand under the table.
“I have something to do, so I’ll pass,” Nan Zhiyi said, shaking her head. She did want to go have fun, but she really did have something to handle.
After breakfast, Nan Zhiyi took her bag and left. After washing the dishes, Qin Xuan sat on the sofa with Liu Ruoxi and played with their phones.
“Huh? You’re not going out?” Qin Lin’er had changed into a dress and came out just then. Seeing the two of them lounging around like salted fish, she asked curiously.
Liu Ruoxi looked up from her phone and glanced at her. “Let’s go.”
She stood up and tugged at the motionless Qin Xuan, but accidentally...
She didn’t pull him up at all, and instead she was yanked forward and fell into Qin Xuan’s arms. If Qin Xuan hadn’t reacted quickly and caught her, Liu Ruoxi would have gone straight to the floor.
Are you two putting on a show for me? Qin Lin’er scratched her head. Is something wrong with you two, or is something wrong with me?
“You’re going out dressed like that?” Qin Lin’er stopped the two of them and pointed at the wrinkled clothes they were wearing.
“Mm...” Qin Xuan looked down. It did seem a little inappropriate.
He took Liu Ruoxi back into the room, changed into a clean T-shirt, and only then left with Qin Lin’er.
They were planning to buy some clothes. A lot of their summer clothes had been left at home and not brought along.
But they had barely gotten on the road when Qin Lin’er started saying she was hungry. Qin Xuan knew full well she was just being greedy. In the end, he would still be the one eating her leftovers.
Qin Xuan glanced around and found Qin Lin’er’s eyes locked onto a little shop. Helpless, he walked over, only to realize it was a sauce-flavored flatbread stall. He remembered that Qin Lin’er used to like it quite a lot when she was little. Of course, he didn’t forget to buy a portion for Liu Ruoxi too.
“Open up,” Liu Ruoxi said, using a skewer to lift a piece and offer it to Qin Xuan.
Qin Xuan bit it directly. The taste was a little different from what he remembered, but it was still pretty good.
Seeing that scene, the flatbread in Qin Lin’er’s mouth suddenly tasted like wax. Eat what? Forget it, I’m not eating anymore.
Qin Xuan looked at the sauce flatbread Qin Lin’er had shoved into his hand. So now you’re not eating?
In the end, they spent the whole morning shopping and only returned home at noon with the clothes they had bought, finding that Nan Zhiyi still hadn’t come back. No one knew what she was doing.
“What do you want to eat?” Qin Xuan was torn between cooking and ordering takeout.
“Chicken legs!” Qin Lin’er said without the slightest hesitation. Seeing her like that, Qin Xuan decided to order burgers instead.
The delivery came quickly, but the awkward part was that just as they were nearly finished eating, Nan Zhiyi came back. Looking at the half burger left in Qin Xuan’s hand, she seemed a little conflicted.
“Haven’t eaten yet?” Qin Xuan asked.
“Not yet...” As expected, she really was an outsider. They were eating and nobody even thought to buy her a portion.
Seeing Nan Zhiyi staring at the half burger in his hand, Qin Xuan tentatively held it out to her.
Nan Zhiyi pressed her lips together and glanced at Liu Ruoxi, who was sitting calmly nearby. Then, with a sudden resolve, she snatched the burger, stuffed it into her mouth, and ran back to her room.
Liu Ruoxi: What the hell? You actually dared to do that?
She turned around and stared fiercely at Qin Xuan, who felt a chill under her gaze.
He reached out, pulled her back into his room, and kicked the door shut behind them.
“Listen to me explain...” Seeing Liu Ruoxi sitting on the bed with her arms crossed, Qin Xuan sat beside her and turned her to face him.
“Fine. Explain yourself.”
After thinking for a moment, Qin Xuan told her about what had happened with Nan Zhiyi yesterday. Then he saw Liu Ruoxi looking as if she might cry.
“Jerk! You two were doing things behind my back!” Liu Ruoxi raised her fist as if she wanted to hit him, but after a moment she let it fall again, because Qin Xuan had already leaned over and pulled her into his arms.
“Let go of me!” Liu Ruoxi struggled in his embrace, squeezed too tightly.
Qin Xuan loosened his hold a little, but still kept her hand and refused to release it. Yet Liu Ruoxi was already trying to get up.
“What are you doing?” Qin Xuan’s heart jumped when he failed to hold onto her hand.
“I’m running away from home!” Liu Ruoxi said. She had long sensed things like this might happen, but she still found it hard to accept.
Then Qin Xuan saw Liu Ruoxi push open Nan Zhiyi’s door.
“Aah! Ruoxi-jie, what are you doing!”
Not long after, Nan Zhiyi’s shocked cry rang out...
Qin Xuan stood outside Nan Zhiyi’s door, at a loss. Should I go in or not?
He sighed helplessly. Just as he pushed the door open a crack, he saw a slipper flying out. Luckily, Qin Xuan shut the door in time.
“What happened?” Qin Lin’er asked curiously with a cookie in her mouth, watching the scene unfold.
“Why are you so curious, little kid? Eat your cookies,” Qin Xuan said, glancing at her and casually taking a few cookies from the box...
Qin Lin’er: ? Why are you stealing my cookies?!
After a long while, Liu Ruoxi came out of the room, fixing her hair and shooting Qin Xuan a cold glance. She didn’t want to talk to him and went straight back to her room.
Qin Xuan felt awkward at the sight. After thinking for a while, he took out his phone and sent his uncle a message: “Uncle! Help!”
That’s right. That shameless uncle.
“What’s wrong, little nephew?” His uncle’s name was Wang Zhijie. From childhood to adulthood, he had never lacked girlfriends. Mainly because he was truly handsome, and second because his body was excellent. Even now, already in his forties, he was still unmarried, always out having fun, and no one knew which corner of the world he was in.
At that moment, Wang Zhijie was working out. Seeing his phone light up beside the bed, he thought it was some girl looking for him. Only after picking it up did he realize it was Qin Xuan. He was quite fond of this little nephew, mainly because he was half as handsome as himself.
After hearing Qin Xuan explain everything, Wang Zhijie replied dismissively, “That’s all? Isn’t this just a matter of a few words?”
Qin Xuan looked at his phone in confusion. Is your “few words” even decent?
By the time Qin Xuan stood once more at the doorway, the uncle’s words were still echoing in his head. He had learned something, all right.
He tried the handle. Not locked? Then there was no problem.
With confidence, Qin Xuan pushed the door open and saw Liu Ruoxi sitting in a chair using the computer. She had a browser open and seemed to be searching for something.
Qin Xuan leaned in to look.
“How to keep one’s boyfriend from cheating?”
And below that, the replies were all the same:
“Castrate him.”
“Castrate him +1.”
