Chapter 131: Borrow a Little?
Qin Xuan comforted Lin'er for a long time, eventually feeding her some meat by hand before she finally forgave him.
"Fine, fine! If you talk to me like that again, I'm going to get angry!" Lin'er let go of Qin Xuan's hand, threatening him with a pout. She hopped off his lap, casting a sidelong glance at the other two before walking away.
After dinner and cleaning up, Qin Xuan sat before his computer, contemplating whether to play a few rounds of games. Suddenly, Liu Ruoxi walked in, dressed in a new outfit. She struck a pose against the door frame, leaving Qin Xuan completely stunned. Ruoxi and Zhiyi truly had different styles, but he loved them both!
Forget the games. Qin Xuan stood up, scooped her into his arms, and tossed her onto the bed. He didn't even bother turning off the lights—there was still plenty to appreciate, after all.
Next door, Lin'er lay sprawled on her bed, searching for strange methods online, when she heard the commotion from the room next to hers. Hmph, liar. Said he wasn't interested? It was so noisy! Forced to listen for over half an hour, Lin'er was almost becoming immune to it; after experiencing it herself, she didn't even bother looking at the content on her phone anymore.
The next morning, Lin'er woke Qin Xuan up early. She had made a vet appointment for today to see when they could get "Meatball" fixed. Exhausted, Qin Xuan yawned as he and Lin'er headed out with Meatball, grabbing a bowl of rice noodles downstairs along the way. Meatball seemed to sense what was coming and was terrified the entire journey.
There were so many pet owners nowadays; despite arriving early, they didn't finish until past ten. The surgery itself was fine, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. On the way back, Lin'er let Meatball out for a bit. They wandered around the square outside their complex. Lin'er really wanted to sit down and rest, but Meatball was running around like a madman. Finally, unable to take it anymore, she shoved the cat leash into Qin Xuan's hand, found a chair, and watched him walk the cat. It was quite a harmonious sight.
Qin Lin'er couldn't help but pull out her phone, snap a picture, and send it to their group chat. "Does this look like Qin Xuan taking care of our kids in the future?"
"?" Nan Zhiyi, who had a habit of waking up early, was lying in bed scrolling through her phone. She saw the message and sent a confused question mark.
"You? What! Doesn't it look like it?"
"Looks like he's taking care of mine..." Nan Zhiyi typed brazenly.
"Yuck!"
Seeing the message, Nan Zhiyi immediately got up, changed, and finished washing up, determined to give Lin'er a good thumping.
Lin'er sat comfortably in the chair, ready to spar with Zhiyi, but when Zhiyi didn't reply, she turned her attention back to Qin Xuan. After ten minutes, Qin Xuan returned with Meatball. The two of them leaned back in the chairs, soaking up the sun for a while before deciding to head home.
As soon as they opened the door, Lin'er saw Zhiyi sitting on the sofa, holding her familiar baseball bat.
"Eh? Zhiyi, let's not lose our tempers now!" Lin'er quickly hid behind Qin Xuan.
"Coward!" Nan Zhiyi gave her a look of disdain and set the bat aside. She had only been trying to scare her.
Qin Xuan let Meatball out, who immediately ran to her small bed on the balcony to continue sunbathing, stretching out comfortably.
"So, I was thinking of having hot pot for lunch. Is anyone coming with me to get groceries?" Qin Xuan asked, trying to ease the tension.
"I'll go," Lin'er said, immediately hooking her arm through Qin Xuan's. Nan Zhiyi raised her hand to signal she was in, too.
"Could you change your clothes first..." Qin Xuan said, feeling a bit awkward looking at Nan Zhiyi’s somewhat short pajamas.
"Oh," Nan Zhiyi looked down, "Forgot."
Soon, Nan Zhiyi returned in a white shirt. Lin'er couldn't help but compare, feeling a pang of envy... especially when she caught Qin Xuan's gaze. She sighed helplessly.
"Should we call Ruoxi?" Nan Zhiyi asked Qin Xuan.
"Ahem, let's let her sleep a bit longer..." Qin Xuan coughed, waving his hand as he recalled last night's events. Nan Zhiyi understood instantly and nodded with a smirk.
Perhaps because it was the weekend, the supermarket was packed. Qin Xuan pushed the cart while the two women picked out items. Since neither of them liked vegetables, they grabbed a mountain of meat; Qin Xuan worried about their digestion. The total came to over four hundred, and they headed home in high spirits.
On the way, Qin Xuan carried a heavy bag in each hand, smiling warmly as he watched the two women bickering playfully ahead of him. Back home, he realized Ruoxi was still asleep. Was she planning to sleep until lunch?
Qin Xuan peeked into the room, finding Ruoxi fast asleep on the bed, completely unconcerned with her appearance. He shook his head and retreated to the kitchen to prepare the hot pot. Lin'er and Zhiyi were on the sofa, fiddling with their phones.
"Zhiyi?" Lin'er asked, turning to her after seeing something on her screen. "Do you want a boy or a girl in the future?"
Nan Zhiyi frowned and shifted away from her. "How old are you even! Thinking way too far ahead!"
"Oh, come on, just chatting," Lin'er said, shamelessly flopping onto her lap with a grin.
"Hmm... a girl, I suppose," Nan Zhiyi thought about her own childhood and wanted to make up for how she looked back then—she definitely couldn't let her child end up like she did! "What about you?"
"Me? Can I answer the call and have a third child?" Lin'er asked seriously.
"..." Nan Zhiyi was stunned. "Wait, what?!"
"Can you even afford to raise them? The poor things might end up malnourished..."
"Hm? Don't I have you guys? Can I borrow some?" Lin'er scrolled through her phone, saying it quite naturally.
"Get out of here! Always looking for trouble!" Nan Zhiyi reached out and pinched Lin'er's cheeks. They felt even softer than her own! She couldn't stop herself.
"Mm..." Lin'er had let her be at first, but after realizing Zhiyi wasn't stopping, she finally sat up and massaged her face, which felt a bit sore.
By noon, Liu Ruoxi suddenly opened her eyes. The scent of hot pot wafted into the room, and her mouth watered involuntarily. She stumbled out in her slippers, finding Qin Xuan adjusting the heat.
"Having hot pot without calling me..." Ruoxi said to Qin Xuan with a pout.
"I was just about to go get you. Go wash up," Qin Xuan ruffled her hair and kissed her forehead.
Nan Zhiyi and Lin'er walked out with dishes just in time to see this. They both let out a synchronized "Eww," commenting on how she hadn't even washed her face yet.
"Eww your face," Ruoxi retorted as she headed toward the bathroom. Before closing the door, she poked her head back out: "Hey... save the tripe for me!"
