Chapter Seventy-Seven: Should I Move In?

Nan Zhiyi clung to Qin Xuan’s arm, giving it a playful shake whenever she pleased, so much so that just as Qin Xuan was about to relax, he was startled awake again.
“Zhiyi! Can we please just go to sleep?” Qin Xuan was at his wit’s end with her boundless energy.
“Oh…” Nan Zhiyi quieted down for a while after hearing him.
But before Qin Xuan could fall asleep, she started up again. With a huff, Qin Xuan threw off the covers. “Forget sleep! Let’s get up and have a fight!”
Of course, the fight never happened. Qin Xuan, faced with her pitiful, pleading look, found himself unable to do anything, and somehow, eventually, they both drifted off. The only evidence the next morning was that his lips were a little swollen…
Early in the morning, Nan Zhiyi woke up and gazed at Qin Xuan next to her, feeling a sudden, inexplicable sense of peace. She couldn’t resist pulling out her phone to record this moment, and accidentally sent it all to Liu Ruoxi—photos, voice messages, the works—serving as her very own alarm clock.
Liu Ruoxi groggily ruffled her messy hair, blinking at the barrage of calls and a flood of photos from Nan Zhiyi. A sudden urge to go over and give her a good beating surged within her.
Before Liu Ruoxi could reply, Nan Zhiyi was calling again.
“Nan Zhiyi! Are you looking for trouble?” Liu Ruoxi snapped as she answered.
“Oh, you picked up! Quick, get up and eat!” Nan Zhiyi was startled; she hadn’t expected Ruoxi to actually be awake. She mumbled a few perfunctory words and quickly hung up.
Liu Ruoxi didn’t have time to react before the call was cut off, leaving her fuming.
With her sleepiness gone, she simply got up, washed up, threw on some clothes, and headed straight for Nan Zhiyi’s place.
Meanwhile, Qin Xuan was just about to go downstairs to buy some steamed buns when, the moment he opened the door, he ran straight into—an absolutely fuming Liu Ruoxi!
“Calm down, calm down,” Qin Xuan hurriedly grabbed her.
“Hmph! She dares provoke me again!” Liu Ruoxi whipped out her phone, and Qin Xuan, seeing the photos, was momentarily speechless.
“Come on, I’ll take all the photos you want later,” Qin Xuan said as he took her hand and led her downstairs.
Holding Qin Xuan’s hand, Liu Ruoxi felt her anger dissipate instantly, and the urge to beat up Nan Zhiyi vanished as well.
A little later, Qin Xuan and Liu Ruoxi were strolling outside with a few baskets of soup dumplings and some soy milk.
“Ruoxi, don’t you think I’m incredibly lucky?” Qin Xuan asked, his words muffled by the half-eaten bun in his mouth.
Liu Ruoxi, still holding his hand, paused before finally realizing what he meant. “I don’t know what good deeds you did in your past life to have two beautiful women fall for you!”
Qin Lin’er: What about me?
“But as long as I have you, that’s enough,” Qin Xuan squeezed her hand tighter, speaking with a hint of flattery.
“Men’s words are nothing but lies!” Liu Ruoxi shot him a glare. “So—what are you going to do about Zhiyi? Anyway, if you ever lose me, you’re dead for sure!”
Qin Xuan could only sigh helplessly. “I’ll talk to her and clear things up later…”

Hearing this, Liu Ruoxi let out a long sigh. “Forget it, we’ll just take things as they come. Zhiyi, she…”
“Come on, let’s go back.”
With breakfast in hand for both Nan Zhiyi and Qin Lin’er, the two returned hand in hand to the apartment complex.
Inside, Nan Zhiyi watched the affectionate pair through the window, feeling as though she’d just bitten into a lemon…
Before the door was even shut, Qin Xuan pushed it open and strode in.
“Nan Zhiyi! Come out and eat!” Liu Ruoxi called, heading straight for the sofa and plopping herself down as she shouted toward the other room.
Nan Zhiyi had heard the commotion long ago but didn’t dare come out, afraid she’d get a beating… But now, hearing Liu Ruoxi call her, she poked her head out and shot Ruoxi a cautious glance.
“What are you hiding for? I’m not going to hit you,” Liu Ruoxi said, baffled by her behavior—did she really seem that much like a tyrant?
Relieved by her words, Nan Zhiyi finally emerged.
“Weren’t you bold just a moment ago? Why are you suddenly acting like Lin’er?” Liu Ruoxi teased.
“Who’s scared? I’m just not fully awake,” Nan Zhiyi refused to admit it, and Liu Ruoxi couldn’t help but laugh at her stubbornness.
“And what should you call me?”
“Um… Sister Ruoxi~” Remembering her promise to Liu Ruoxi the night before, Nan Zhiyi reluctantly addressed her so, but thinking back to how warm the bed was last night thanks to Qin Xuan, she figured it was worth it! It had been ages since she’d slept so well, and the more she thought about it, the more she envied Liu Ruoxi…
“Good girl, little Zhiyi!” Liu Ruoxi was more than happy to accept the title.
Qin Xuan: Are you two trying to become sisters or something?
Bored, Liu Ruoxi began to scan Nan Zhiyi’s room.
“Huh? What’s this?” she asked, curious about the telescope on the balcony.
Nan Zhiyi nearly choked on her bun. “That’s… for stargazing!”
“Is it?” Liu Ruoxi was skeptical, peering through the fixed lens.
“What the—!” Liu Ruoxi exclaimed, recognizing the opposite balcony all too well.
“Are you some kind of pervert? What’s this for?” Liu Ruoxi let loose on Nan Zhiyi. “This is a total invasion of privacy!”
“I…” Nan Zhiyi was at a loss for words, unable even to muster an explanation.
“Tsk tsk, confiscated!” Liu Ruoxi declared, promptly packing up the telescope and its stand, ready to toss them out.

Nan Zhiyi didn’t dare complain—at worst, she could just buy another one!
…
It wasn’t until Nan Zhiyi finished her bun that she realized she’d eaten Lin’er’s share as well… With no other choice, Qin Xuan went out again, and when he returned home, Nan Zhiyi naturally followed.
Qin Lin’er, unsurprisingly, was still asleep. She’d wanted to make up for missing Zhiyi’s birthday outing yesterday, but the weather looked like rain, so she decided to stay home instead.
Sure enough, no sooner had they settled in to watch TV than it began pouring outside. The coolness of early morning deepened with the rain, the air growing more humid and oxygen-rich.
Hopefully it would rain for a couple days straight! Then she wouldn’t have to go back, Nan Zhiyi thought to herself.
As it happened, the rain lasted all day. Luckily, there was plenty of food at home, so Nan Zhiyi ended up staying the whole day, sleeping that night in Liu Ruoxi’s room—of course, Liu Ruoxi herself was in Qin Xuan’s.
Lying in bed, Nan Zhiyi couldn’t help but wonder if she should just move in. But Liu Ruoxi would never agree—that was the tricky part!
After a while, Nan Zhiyi decided to go straight to Qin Lin’er’s room instead! Lin’er was still awake when Nan Zhiyi crept in, snuggling insistently under the covers.
“Hey! I just got this bed warm, and now you’re making it cold!” But Nan Zhiyi ignored Lin’er’s protests and slipped her chilly hands under Lin’er’s shirt, making her shiver.
“Take them out! Why are you so cold?” Lin’er wondered if this girl was made of ice.
“Let’s make a deal!” Nan Zhiyi pressed up against her, nearly shoving Lin’er off the bed.
“What is it?” Lin’er, clutching Nan Zhiyi’s hand, asked curiously.
“How about I move in? I’ll keep your bed warm every night!”
Nan Zhiyi’s proposal startled Lin’er. You can do that? After thinking about it, she sighed, “It’s no use telling me—you have to talk to Sister Ruoxi and Qin Xuan!”
“So you support me, right?” Nan Zhiyi pinched the soft flesh of Lin’er’s cheek, her tone threatening.
“All right, all right!” Lin’er surrendered, worried that if Nan Zhiyi kept this up, she’d be done for.
“Knew you were the best!” Nan Zhiyi, satisfied with Lin’er’s support, finally let her go.
“Aren’t you going back?” Lin’er said, pushing at Nan Zhiyi’s unmoving body.
Nan Zhiyi grinned at her. “Aren’t I here to warm your bed?”
Qin Lin’er: Shameless! If anyone’s going to warm my bed, it should be my big brother!
