Chapter Eighty-Seven: It Seems I Have Discovered Something Extraordinary!
In the end, things did not go quite as Qin Xuan had hoped. With Liu Ruxi leaning in his arms, he could hardly hold himself back. He turned his head and murmured something into her ear. In an instant, her ears and little face flushed scarlet.
“You!” Meeting his gaze, Liu Ruxi bit her lip and lowered her head, a little embarrassed.
“Actually, you can anytime...” Interlacing her fingers with Qin Xuan’s, Liu Ruxi said softly, nerves trembling in her voice.
Qin Xuan froze, turned her face back toward him, and slowly kissed her.
A few minutes later, he let her go and looked at her, unable to help clicking his tongue. So cute. Makes me want to...
“Don’t look at me!” Liu Ruxi crossed her arms and glared at him in a huff. He had not even said a word before...
But Qin Xuan clearly had no intention of stopping there. Just then—
“Brother!”
At the sound from outside the door, both of them stiffened. Before Qin Xuan could react, Liu Ruxi yanked up the blanket and hid under it, poking her head out to glare angrily at Qin Lin’er, who had already pushed the door open and walked in. You had better explain yourself today!
“There seems to be a cockroach in my room~ Can I come sleep here for one night?” Qin Lin’er said weakly from outside the door.
Liu Ruxi had not believed a word of it at first, but seeing how she looked as if she were about to cry...
“Come in,” Liu Ruxi said before Qin Xuan could speak.
“Hehe.” Once granted permission, Qin Lin’er, still in her pajamas, sprang straight onto the bed and squeezed beside Liu Ruxi.
“Ay! Sister Xi, how come you...” Qin Lin’er had only just reached out to hug Sister Xi when she seemed to notice something shocking!
Liu Ruxi’s face reddened too, though she still tried to salvage her dignity. “What’s wrong with the way I sleep?”
“Nothing...” Qin Lin’er had no objection whatsoever. It was just that she might have interrupted something between the two of them? She had done it on purpose, of course!
“All right, sleep!” Liu Ruxi glanced around in search of her nightgown, only to discover after a long search that it had been tossed onto the floor. She turned and shot Qin Xuan a fierce glare!
Qin Xuan looked innocent. Well... I’ll be more careful next time.
After the lights were switched off, all three lay in the dark with their eyes closed, yet none of them had any intention of sleeping. Liu Ruxi slowly reached out and took Qin Xuan’s hand in hers. Then she looked at Qin Lin’er lying beside her. It had been a long time since she had been given a proper beating; she needed to find a chance to teach this girl a lesson!
...
When they woke the next morning, Qin Xuan looked at the strange sleeping postures of the two people beside him and felt awkward. Qin Lin’er had actually sprawled right into Liu Ruxi’s arms. Hey! That’s mine!
But Qin Xuan did not wake them. Having already lost all interest in cooking, he went downstairs and bought two baskets of steamed buns and some soy milk.
“Get up!” Qin Xuan called into the room when he returned home, but there was no movement at all...
Instead, Nan Zhiyi came out combing her hair, though she too looked half-asleep.
Back in the room, Qin Xuan slapped the two of them once each. Only then did they wake, clutching their backsides.
When Qin Xuan went out again, he saw Nan Zhiyi already eating the buns with great relish.
“Did you rinse your mouth?” Qin Xuan asked, looking at her utterly unladylike behavior. He really wanted to take a picture and expose it: this is what your goddess is like at home!
Nan Zhiyi bit into a bun and nodded, a phone still on her lap as she browsed today’s schedule. She really wished the school would put someone else in charge! She wanted to play with Qin Xuan too!
Unfortunately, she would have to sit onstage all day again today. Yesterday had already left her backside aching, and not even someone to comfort her could be found. All you care about is your girlfriend! Just wait, sooner or later I...
“Oh~ Sister Xi, you’re awake? Come sit here, Sister Xi!” Nan Zhiyi, who had just been brimming with confidence, immediately lost her nerve the moment she saw Liu Ruxi come out after washing up.
“Hm?” Something about Nan Zhiyi felt off today. Shouldn’t you put up a little resistance and give me some excuse to hit you?
After breakfast, they dragged their tired bodies to school. The weather in Shudu changed on a whim; this morning the sun had already risen bright and fierce, and it was scorching hot.
Fortunately, the spectator stands had shade, or else people would have been baked alive. Even so, the first thing one felt was the suffocating heat.
By the time they endured to near noon, the sun showed no sign of easing. Qin Lin’er was weakly leaning against Qin Xuan’s shoulder. Qin Xuan knew she had always been unable to tolerate heat. Among the four seasons, summer was the one Qin Lin’er hated most. After all, in winter she could still warm herself by her big brother’s side. But in summer...
“Once we get back, take a shower and you’ll feel better,” Qin Xuan said, holding her shoulder and patting her gently to comfort her.
“Mm,” Qin Lin’er hummed, too tired even to lift her head.
Seeing this, Qin Xuan twisted open the bottle of water distributed by the school and held it to Qin Lin’er’s lips, lifting her head with one hand. Qin Lin’er took a big gulp, but it did not help much. What bothered her most was how miserable she felt all over.
“I should never have come!” Qin Xuan sighed helplessly. Who could have known the temperature would shoot up so quickly...
By the end of the morning matches, before it was even noon, the entire field emptied out at once.
Nan Zhiyi had gone to a group lunch, so at midday it was the three of them who had to solve the problem of food. After thinking it over, Qin Xuan simply packed a few cold dishes downstairs.
Halfway home, seeing that there were not many students around, Qin Lin’er started pestering Qin Xuan to carry her on his back.
Such a child. Though Qin Xuan thought so, he still indulged her. He was hot too, of course, but Qin Lin’er was not nearly as heavy as Liu Ruxi, so carrying her was actually quite easy.
The moment they got home, Qin Lin’er ran straight for the bathroom.
She revived at once, full of energy again—but after washing up, she realized she had forgotten to bring her clothes.
“Qin Xuan~ bring me my clothes!” Qin Lin’er called directly toward the door.
Qin Xuan answered and walked into Qin Lin’er’s room. He had originally intended to just grab something at random, but...
What the hell? You have this too? And what is that supposed to be?
Qin Xuan suddenly had the feeling of a child growing up. He picked out two decent-looking items along with her sleepwear and brought them to Qin Lin’er.
Soon after, he saw Qin Lin’er coming out of the bathroom with a flushed face. The two of them met eyes awkwardly, but since Liu Ruxi was there, neither Qin Xuan nor Qin Lin’er said much.
After dinner, Liu Ruxi went to the bookstore to buy some books, leaving Qin Xuan hiding in the room playing games, when Qin Lin’er sneaked the door open.
“Qin Xuan~” She sat on the edge of the bed near him, her two feet swinging back and forth.
“You have no manners. Call me brother!” Qin Xuan did not even turn around as he answered her helplessly.
“No!” She flopped onto the bed and stretched lazily. “What were you and Sister Xi doing last night?”
“Is that something you should be worrying about?” Qin Xuan finally turned his head and rolled his eyes at her.
“Well then...” Qin Lin’er smiled slyly. “Were the things in my drawer nice to look at?”
“Ahem! What things? I don’t know anything!” Qin Xuan pricked up his ears toward the door, thinking he had heard something and nearly scared himself half to death.
“Oh? I was even going to say when I might show them to you,” Qin Lin’er said quietly.
Hearing that, Qin Xuan could not help imagining Qin Lin’er’s figure, and something in his mind felt oddly wrong.
“Shut up!” Qin Xuan could not stand it anymore and shook his head, throwing off those strange thoughts.
Seeing him like that, Qin Lin’er burst into laughter.
“I’m going back!” Seeing that Qin Xuan would not even look at her, Qin Lin’er lost interest and simply got up to leave.
As she passed by Qin Xuan, she leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Those really were prepared for you.”
