Chapter Twenty-Five: I Want All His Information
Ning Xianyu hesitated for a moment, ultimately deciding not to mention Du Juezi. However, just as she was about to leave, she suddenly turned back and said, “Ancestor, thank you.”
Xuanyuan Tunhan’s hand, holding the teacup, paused. He gave a cold snort. “What you’ve taken, you’ll have to repay one day.”
What sort of person is this? Ning Xianyu was instantly filled with disdain. She had been intending to thank him for letting her eat the Nine-Branch Ephemeral Blossom, but he had to spoil the moment with such a remark. How disappointing.
The system chimed in, “Alright, don’t act so innocent after getting your way. He’s already furious right now, and you’re reminding him? Are you looking for trouble?”
Ning Xianyu conceded that the system had a point. If her treasured possession had been eaten by someone else, she would be angry too.
She hurriedly ran out to find Du Juezi and the others.
The moment Du Juezi saw her, his heart sank.
“Ancestor, where were you all day? I couldn’t find you and was terribly worried.”
Remembering that her poisoning had something to do with Du Juezi, Ning Xianyu felt a surge of anger. Had it not been for the poison, she wouldn’t be indebted by such a favor.
She said coldly, “Do I need you to worry about me?”
Du Juezi instantly suspected that she might have discovered something. Terrified, he dropped to his knees.
“It was presumptuous of me, but my concern for you is sincere, Ancestor. I heard that a thief infiltrated the island yesterday and caused havoc in Huayin Island. I searched everywhere and could not find you. I was deeply worried.”
Ning Xianyu nearly laughed outright. He knew perfectly well what had happened on the island yesterday, and now he was talking about thieves—was he insulting her intelligence?
“Du Juezi, you’d better truly be concerned for me. Enough, I won’t hold it against you.”
“I have matters to attend to outside. After the Hundred Flowers Festival, you’ll handle the rest. Do as you wish.”
Du Juezi asked anxiously, “Ancestor, where are you going? Do you want me to accompany you?”
“That won’t be necessary.”
Ning Xianyu, afraid of letting something slip, didn’t dare say much more to Du Juezi and only wanted to get away as quickly as possible. But he pressed further: “Ancestor, did you obtain the Nine-Branch Ephemeral Blossom…”
“Enough nonsense.”
With a flick of her sleeve, Ning Xianyu stormed off, not giving him another chance to speak.
Du Juezi was left bewildered. Seeing her in such a foul mood, he guessed she hadn’t obtained the Nine-Branch Ephemeral Blossom at all. This thought made him secretly rejoice—good, she didn’t get it. When the next tribulation comes, the ancestor will surely perish. So it is: the wicked are always punished in the end.
Before leaving, Ning Xianyu also snuck a look at Yu Yaozi. He was inspecting his talismans, preparing for the upcoming competition, completely unaware that someone was watching him.
He was powerful—likely to take first place this time. Ning Xianyu felt a pang of bitterness. If Senior Brother Yu Yaozi won, he would have to dual cultivate with a disciple from Huayin Island. She would have no chance.
Jealousy gnawed at her.
The system laughed. “You’re the ancestor now. If you want, you could just take what you desire.”
“Take what, my foot! That’s not something we can even air on this channel. Besides, if I even dared think of such things, I probably wouldn’t live to see tomorrow. Do you think I’m stupid?”
Really, using the body of a great demon lord to do such things with a man—did people think a demon lord would have such self-control?
“He can’t even tolerate me using his body to flirt with women. If I did anything with a man, he’d crush me for sure.”
Ning Xianyu shuddered at the thought—how tragic.
The system, seeing she was frightened, told her to leave and stop watching.
“Even if you keep looking, Yu Yaozi will never be yours.”
“Hmph, mind your own business.”
She stole a few more glances before finally leaving.
When she returned, a bottle of water was tossed her way.
“Wash your eyes!” Xuanyuan Tunhan said, striding away in disdain.
Ning Xianyu stared at the bottle, confused. Why did she need to wash her eyes? What did that even mean?
Not daring to disobey, she obediently washed her eyes with the water. After all, these weren’t her real eyes—if they got damaged, it wouldn’t be her problem.
Afterward, her vision was indeed clearer, everything sharper. Not bad at all.
“The demon lord really does treasure his own body,” she thought.
Yi Tianling, concerned about the villagers of Xu Town, bid a tender farewell to Su Yun’er, then set off with Ning Xianyu and Xuanyuan Tunhan.
Xuanyuan Tunhan produced a flying artifact, and the three of them soared through the air. The ride was efficient, comfortable, and spacious; though not as large as the ship they’d used previously, this little boat was more than enough for three.
Yi Tianling, running his hands over the sides, sighed in admiration. “So generous, Senior. This artifact burns through a hundred spirit stones a day. You could easily fly yourself, yet you brought this out for our convenience.”
This was news to Ning Xianyu—she hadn’t realized the thing consumed so many spirit stones. It was far more costly than any car.
“So…” She wanted to say, so expensive?
Though she wasn’t footing the bill, she still felt a twinge of pain. Such extravagance—no, such wealth!
She looked again at Xuanyuan Tunhan; he seemed to shine with a golden aura.
“System, who is the richest and most handsome person in this world? Quickly, I want a full report in three minutes.”
If she could find such a wealthy patron, she’d cling to him for life, living in luxury and idleness.
The system replied blandly, “Turn your head and look behind you.”
Ning Xianyu turned. On her left was Xuanyuan Tunhan; on her right, Yi Tianling.
“What do you mean by that?”
The system chuckled mischievously. “It’s those two. At present, the richest and handsomest is Xuanyuan Tunhan. In the future, it will be Yi Tianling. Take your pick.”
Ning Xianyu looked at them both, then quietly turned away. “Why don’t you give me the top ten, let me choose.”
These two were out of the question. One was a demon lord with a foul temper—clinging to that thigh would be exhausting. The other had too many admirers in his harem; she was too lazy to compete for favor.
The system considered it. “No one’s kept track before. Give me a moment, I’ll organize the data.”
As they chatted, the flying artifact suddenly lurched, frightening Ning Xianyu into grabbing the edge of the boat.
She looked around nervously, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Xuanyuan Tunhan and Yi Tianling remained calm, as if nothing had happened. It seemed to be a normal occurrence, just the artifact misbehaving.
Ning Xianyu asked the system, “Finished compiling yet?”
“All done. Really, the wealthiest would have to be the Demon Realm. There, spirit-infused gems are countless. But the environment is harsh, and the spirit stones are demonic—cultivators can’t use them.”
If they could, someone would have raided the Demon Realm long ago.
Ning Xianyu gave a dry laugh. “If they’re unusable, then forget it. Even if they’re like the demon lord’s, I wouldn’t want them. Still… ah—”
As she spoke, the flying artifact lurched again.
This time, even Yi Tianling realized something was wrong. The fairy beside them looked furious, deliberately shaking the artifact.
What on earth was going on?
