Chapter One: The Wish-Fulfillment System—Turning Dreams Into Reality
Year 79,083 of the Celestial Era, seventh month, eighth day.
The Grandmaster Selection Ceremony of Jade Immortal Sect, the most powerful sect in all six realms of Cloud Desolation, was underway.
This was the day when the most talented disciples from all six realms would be chosen to apprentice under the six inner elders of Jade Immortal Sect, soaring to fame and glory.
It was the dream of every cultivator in Cloud Desolation’s six realms.
Including Ning Xianyu, who had just transmigrated to this world.
Yet before her dream could even begin, it was shattered.
“Mixed spiritual roots! Why, of all things, must I have mixed spiritual roots?” Ning Xianyu gripped her broom tightly, furiously sweeping at the fallen leaves as if they had wronged her.
Everyone in the cultivation world knew that the most mediocre aptitude was none other than mixed spiritual roots.
She didn’t even qualify to attend the selection ceremony!
Cultivators with mixed roots were only fit to do menial labor, serve as cannon fodder, and endure hardship!
Hugging her broom, Ning Xianyu howled up at the empty garden, “You wretched heavens! You struck me with lightning and dumped me in this world—was it just to punish me for being lazy and gluttonous for eighteen years?”
Now she was doomed to be an outer sect disciple, forced to work for her meals, with no spirit stones to cultivate.
She’d been in this world for a month, working non-stop, and looked at her once delicate, fair hands with distress—calluses were already forming on her slender fingers.
[Ding! Wish Fulfillment System activated. Bound to host.]
Suddenly, a sweet, childlike voice echoed in her mind.
[Hello, Host! I am your Wish Fulfillment System. You can call me Little Dream.]
Ning Xianyu’s eyes widened. Was this the legendary cheat every transmigrator was supposed to have?
[That’s right! I am your golden finger! In fact, I’ve already fulfilled your first wish and brought you to this world, so you didn’t have to face the college entrance exam.]
Ning Xianyu almost coughed up blood. “Thank you so much for nothing!”
She’d rather take the exam than do menial labor here.
Before, she only hated memorizing textbooks.
Now, not only did she have to memorize cultivation manuals to avoid going astray, but she also had to haul, sweep, and carry things all day—her arms were growing muscles!
“Hurry up and send me back; I don’t want to stay in this world!” Ning Xianyu demanded.
[No can do. World transmigration is a one-time wish and cannot be repeated.]
“This is outrageous! You didn’t even ask me before dragging me here, and now you can’t send me back? How is this wish fulfillment?” Ning Xianyu protested. She refused to suffer through this!
[True, you can’t make that wish again, but you can wish for anything else! What’s so bad about this world? You may be mediocre, and not very good-looking, but you can make wishes to become a peerless master or a stunning beauty!]
“Oh? If you put it that way, maybe I won’t go back after all.” Ning Xianyu rubbed her hands in anticipation.
Her aptitude was terrible, her strength was feeble—she could barely light a fire using spiritual energy.
Every day, she swept the courtyard while her fellow disciples soared overhead on flying swords, the envy gnawing at her.
She wanted to soar on a sword, too! She wanted to move mountains and seas!
Jamming the broom into the ground, Ning Xianyu shouted excitedly, “I wish to be invincible in all the world!”
Then she could become a nominal elder in Jade Immortal Sect, enjoy offerings, eat and drink without working—she could be a salted fish living the good life!
Ning Xianyu thrilled at the thought of raising a harem of beautiful men on her own peak, making a grand entrance wherever she went.
And she’d have to outnumber Elder Bu Jiao’s men, just to outshine her!
[New wish received. The system will do its utmost to fulfill it.]
Ning Xianyu waited in barely contained excitement.
One minute…
Two minutes…
Ten minutes…
Nothing happened.
She looked at her hand, then tried punching a rock nearby. “He-ya!”
Her punch was fierce and full of momentum.
The rock remained perfectly intact.
“Ugh!” Furious, she flung her broom to the ground and bellowed, “You lying dog of a system!”
[This system is honest and trustworthy—never a lie. Once a wish is made, there is a ten-hour buffer period before fulfillment. When you wake tomorrow, you’ll be invincible.]
“You could have said so sooner!” No longer in the mood to sweep, Ning Xianyu slung the broom over her shoulder and happily returned to sleep.
She even skipped dinner. Kicking off her shoes, she sprawled on her bed.
Since coming here, she’d eaten more than she worked; thanks to her easy-going banter with the other disciples, she was still well-liked.
When she didn’t show up at the dining hall that evening, Ding Hong and Chang Qi—who got along well with her—brought her five portions of food.
Knock knock.
Ning Xianyu had just fallen asleep when knocking at the door woke her.
Too lazy to get up, she yelled, “Who is it?”
“It’s me! I brought you food, lest you starve,” Chang Qi rolled his eyes, ready to scold her for her laziness.
She’d barely swept a corner of the garden and disappeared, leaving him to finish the job alone.
“I just ate lunch. I’m not a bottomless pit—how could I eat more? Not hungry, go away!” Ning Xianyu mumbled, burrowing deeper under her covers.
“Tsk!” Chang Qi fumed. Not a bottomless pit? She could eat five servings in a meal!
She’d out-eat a pig!
Ding Hong shot him a glare and said kindly, “Xianyu, are you feeling unwell? Want me to take you to Elder Xiyao to get checked?”
“I’m fine, just sleepy. Let me sleep,” Ning Xianyu muttered, curling up in bed.
The two exchanged a glance and left.
Chang Qi grumbled, “Brought her all this food and got scolded by the kitchen brother for it. Tomorrow, let her sweep the garden alone!”
“Don’t be harsh. Maybe she really isn’t feeling well,” Ding Hong consoled.
The walls were thin, and Ning Xianyu heard their conversation clearly.
She snorted to herself. Just you wait, Chang Qi. When I become an elder, you’ll be the one sweeping my peak alone!
Ding Hong was decent—always helping her, even sharing his fruit.
She’d make him her steward when she got her own peak, in charge of bossing Chang Qi around.
[What about me? What about me?] the system chimed in expectantly.
Knowing the system could hear her thoughts, Ning Xianyu replied cheerfully, [You’ll always be my dearest little treasure!]
[Hehe!] the system replied.
[Hehe!] Ning Xianyu echoed.
Together, host and system burst into matching cackles.
Their harmonious partnership would last until dawn.
Half-awake, Ning Xianyu opened her eyes to the system’s congratulatory fanfare.
[Congratulations! You are now the strongest person in this world!]
“Hehe…” She had barely started her celebratory laugh when it abruptly stopped.
