Chapter 121: She Drank All the Water

Ning Xianyu could not swim at all. The moment she fell into the water, she panicked and began struggling desperately.
The system was still shouting, “Don’t panic! Don’t panic! Lie flat and keep your head above the water!”
Ning Xianyu wanted to keep her head above the surface, but for some reason, the instant she entered the water, her body felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. It was as though a gigantic stone were pressing down on her, dragging her toward the depths.
She sank faster and faster.
Terrified, Ning Xianyu clamped her mouth shut and pinched her nose. Surrounded by a reddish blur, she was certain she was about to drown.
“Can’t you exchange my air tank for a different one?”
She did not want to drown. It was far too frightening.
The system said, “Wait a moment. Your points aren’t sufficient. I’ll see if there’s a cheaper one.”
By the time it finished speaking, she was sinking even faster.
Ning Xianyu could only say, “Then after I die, give me a better-looking body. I want one with a higher cultivation level—and one that knows how to swim.”
“Fine, no problem. Rest in peace.”
Ning Xianyu was furious. She felt she had the worst luck in the world. She had never seen such an unreliable system. Every day, it seemed to look forward to her death so it could replace her body. Just how much did it dislike her?
Xuanyuan Tunhan and Yi Tianling also noticed that Ning Xianyu had fallen into the water and hurried over.
Yet they did not immediately jump in. Instead, the three of them stood there in a daze, staring at the surface.
From Ning Xianyu’s perspective, she was about to drown and was suffering terribly.
But from the perspective of the three people above, she was perfectly fine in the water.
What astonished them was that the level of the underground spring was dropping continuously—and extremely quickly. It was as if some enormous beast were gulping down the water, draining it at astonishing speed.
Soon, Ning Xianyu realized that she had not drowned.
After covering her mouth for a while, she discovered that she could breathe underwater, and that the water was not harming her at all.
Then she realized that something was wrong.
She looked up and saw Xuanyuan Tunhan and the other two lying at the edge of the pool, peering down at her. Although their faces were growing farther away, they were becoming clearer and clearer.
What was happening?
Xuanyuan Tunhan and the others watched as Ning Xianyu continued to descend. After a while, she was about to vanish from sight, so Xuanyuan Tunhan climbed down along the edge of the pool, which had already dried up.
The drop was extremely deep. He climbed and climbed, descending dozens of meters before finally catching up with the water level.
He then discovered that Ning Xianyu was standing below, gradually emerging from the water.
A moment later, the water vanished completely. Ning Xianyu stood at the bottom of the pool, staring around in astonishment.

With the water gone, the area below was exposed. There was a large cavity nearby, filled with stones and other debris. A scrap of cloth lay atop the stones.
She recognized it as a piece of Yi Tianling’s clothing. There was indeed a patch missing from his robe.
It seemed this was the entrance through which Yi Tianling and Su Yuner had arrived.
There were also several smaller openings nearby, still seeping water. Yet as soon as the water reached Ning Xianyu’s feet, it quickly disappeared.
“What is going on?”
In a daze, she seemed to see the little red figure swimming happily. The sea in her dream had turned red.
The little red figure swam back and forth through the crimson water, looking quite pleased.
What a strange dream. She could see it even while awake. Could she have developed a split personality?
Had her dream drunk the underground spring dry?
Su Yuner and Yi Tianling climbed down as well, looking around before turning their gazes toward Ning Xianyu.
“Senior Ning, what kind of magical treasure did you use to collect all this water?”
Ning Xianyu wanted to say that she had probably drunk it all.
But she could not say something so bizarre, so she answered vaguely, “Now that the water is gone, let’s see whether there’s an exit below.”
Yi Tianling pointed toward the passage blocked by stones. “That’s where we came out. If we move the stones, we may be able to get through.”
Although it would be troublesome, there was no other exit. They had no choice but to do the hard labor themselves.
Seeing that Ning Xianyu and Su Yuner were both women, Yi Tianling told them not to come over and said that he would handle it.
He did not dare ask Xuanyuan Tunhan for help. The senior cultivator, who always wore a cold expression, did not look like someone who would move stones.
The passage was not very wide. They would have to crawl inside and carry the stones out, which would be extremely undignified.
Yi Tianling went over to move the stones, while Su Yuner stayed outside to receive them and toss them aside.
They were all cultivators. Even though they could not use spiritual power at the moment, they were still far stronger than ordinary people. Moving a few stones was no difficult task.
Xuanyuan Tunhan did not touch the stones. Instead, he stared at the places on the wall that were still seeping water.
The water flowed down toward Ning Xianyu and was absorbed by her.
The seepage from the other places soon stopped, but one spot continued to trickle.
The flow was weak, yet remarkably persistent.
He had Ning Xianyu come over and place her hand against the spot where the water was emerging.
Puzzled, Ning Xianyu did as he said. The water began pouring out without end, and the flow was even stronger than before.

Xuanyuan Tunhan told her to step back, then suddenly slammed his fist into the wall.
With a thunderous boom, the spot cracked open.
Yi Tianling hurriedly crawled out of the passage and looked over in alarm.
Senior Xuanyuan was truly inconsiderate. Why make such a tremendous racket without warning? Yi Tianling had nearly been crushed to death inside the passage.
Xuanyuan Tunhan struck the fissure again. The opening widened slightly, and a great rush of water burst out.
He pulled Ning Xianyu over and positioned her in front of him. The water splashed against her and soon vanished without a trace.
Ning Xianyu covered her face, feeling as though she had become a sponge—a gigantic sponge used to plug a leak in the ocean.
Xuanyuan Tunhan continued striking the opening. With each blow, the outlet grew wider. Then the water suddenly erupted with tremendous force, blasting Ning Xianyu toward the opposite wall.
Xuanyuan Tunhan caught her from behind, preventing the current from carrying her away.
The scene was exceedingly strange.
The water was flowing, Ning Xianyu was absorbing it, and Xuanyuan Tunhan was like a massive boulder holding everything steady.
As the flow intensified, the opening was gradually enlarged by the force of the water.
Fortunately, after surging for a while, the current finally stopped.
Before the four of them now lay a huge passage, wide enough for two people to walk through side by side.
Yi Tianling glanced at the stones he had just moved, then at the passage, and immediately felt that all his effort had been for nothing.
He gave an embarrassed smile and was about to say something when Senior Xuanyuan looked at him and smiled smugly.
What was that supposed to mean?
Was Senior Xuanyuan showing off?
At that moment, Xuanyuan Tunhan sneered inwardly. No one could possibly become his nemesis—not even the so-called male protagonist chosen by fate.
With the passage open, the four of them entered to see whether there might be another exit on the other side.
But at that moment, the vines also sensed that something was wrong and immediately pursued them.
Xuanyuan Tunhan told Ning Xianyu to spray the medicine behind them. She hurriedly fumbled out the spray bottle and began spraying as she ran.
When the vines reached that point, they felt a scorching pain and immediately stopped pursuing them, forced to watch helplessly as the four escaped.
