The Heavenly Sovereign is the second greatest Celestial King under the Human Emperor. Could this plaque be the nameplate of the Heavenly Sovereign’s residence? Chu Feng thought it was possible, but it was definitely more than just that. This small plaque likely concealed a tremendous secret; otherwise, why would two supreme masters have fought to the death?

According to Chu Feng’s speculation, this plaque might contain a chance that could stir even the Holy Spirit Warriors’ hearts.

“Hahaha, a hundred years have passed, and finally someone has arrived!” At that moment, Chu Feng recalled the words of the demon clan man.

“Could that earth-shaking life-and-death battle have taken place over a hundred years ago?” Chu Feng pondered silently. He suspected the matter was complicated; after all, this was human territory, and no matter how strong the demon man was, he wouldn’t have been so arrogant otherwise.

On closer thought, such a deadly battle must have occurred without human reinforcements. In other words, even though it happened in human lands, the demon man must have had enough backing to hold off other human strongholds.

For this to be possible, there was only one scenario: a large-scale war between humans and demons had broken out.

Chu Feng did not know the details of what happened a century ago, but he could somewhat infer that over a hundred years ago, a massive war erupted between humans and demons, causing the demise of powerful Holy Spirit Warriors.

However, what exact role this purple-red plaque played in that war was beyond Chu Feng’s guessing.

He sighed quietly. A human stronghold had fallen, and he felt a tinge of sorrow.

Chu Feng decided to bury the fallen warrior’s body on the spot. He bent down and pulled out the half-blade lodged in the corpse’s heart. Then, he noticed a jade plaque emitting a faint white glow hidden inside the corpse’s garment.

The jade plaque bore intricate runes, with faint currents of energy flowing among them. Holding the jade plaque, Chu Feng quickly sensed it was linked to the surrounding barrier.

“Could this be the core of the entire barrier?” Chu Feng murmured, a trace of delight stirring in his heart.

He briefly explained everything to Long Yue, and after some discussion, they both found it very plausible.

The human warrior had barely any strength left before death to set up the barrier, so the existing barrier was likely prearranged, embedded within the jade plaque, ready to be unleashed at any time.

However, refining and mastering the jade plaque was difficult for Chu Feng, since it belonged to the Holy Spirit Warriors. Ultimately, he decided to destroy it.

After properly burying the human warrior, he bowed deeply, then drew his Domain-Sealing Sword and struck the jade plaque repeatedly. Finally, it shattered.

In an instant, the surrounding space trembled violently, then was submerged by the lake’s waters. The barrier beneath the water vanished along with the destruction of the jade plaque.

Soon, Chu Feng sensed Long Yue’s location. In another direction, there was the unmistakable figure of Xu Yan. As Chu Feng had guessed, Xu Yan had blossomed from a young girl into a graceful young woman.

“Really here!” Chu Feng rejoiced, swimming quickly toward Xu Yan.

At that moment, Xu Yan had just broken free and was utterly bewildered, unaware of what had happened. Suddenly, she sensed a shadow approaching in the murky water.

The next moment, Xu Yan’s hand was grasped. She wanted to resist but froze as she recognized the long-unseen face.

When the three boarded the Eagle Warship, Xu Yan was already in tears.

“Girl, you had us worried to death,” Chu Feng said with a smile.

“Wild man, it’s really you!” Xu Yan called, her voice full of grievance. She didn’t care about anything else and threw herself into Chu Feng’s arms, clutching him tightly while sobbing.

“It’s alright, it’s alright,” Chu Feng said, his heart aching as he repeatedly comforted her.

“You deadbeat, where have you been these past two years? Not even coming to see me,” Xu Yan cried.

“I’ve just been busy with cultivation. It’s alright now; I came to find you,” Chu Feng reassured her.

In terms of beauty, Xu Yan was nearly on par with Long Yue. Being held by such a lovely maiden stirred even Chu Feng’s heart. When he looked at Long Yue, she was glaring at him with a look of quiet resentment.

Chu Feng smiled awkwardly and hastened to soothe Xu Yan’s fluttering emotions, then brought her over to Long Yue’s side.

Back when Chu Feng was in the rookie camp, Long Yue often came by, and at that time, Long Yue and Xu Yan had met a few times.

But now, when the two women met again, the atmosphere was rather delicate. Xu Yan blushed, lowered her head, feeling embarrassed, and glanced at Long Yue before saying, “Sister Long Yue, long time no see.”

“Yes, little sister Xu Yan has grown into a beauty. No wonder some people are almost head over heels,” Long Yue said with a smile.

Xu Yan’s face reddened even more. Chu Feng felt like crying but was speechless, feeling wrongly accused.

“Ahem, I think we should head back quickly,” Chu Feng said.

“All right,” Long Yue said, shooting Chu Feng a glance, then taking Xu Yan to chat, leaving Chu Feng aside.

Chu Feng was inwardly frustrated, thinking this had nothing to do with him, yet he was the one bearing the consequences.

Still, he shamelessly joined their conversation. One thing bothered him greatly: what exactly happened between humans and demons a hundred years ago?

Chu Feng even took out the small plaque, but Long Yue knew little about it. However, she knew quite a bit about the events a hundred years prior.

Apparently, over a hundred years ago, the Demon Emperor launched a massive assault on the human race, almost reaching the human sacred city.

Naturally, the humans rose to resist. Both sides suffered heavy losses, including many masters. The Demon Emperor vanished mysteriously, and it was precisely because the demons lost their emperor that the war suddenly ceased.

“So that’s how it was,” Chu Feng thought. Yet, from all this, he could not discern any direct link between the small plaque and that war.

“Let’s keep this plaque safe for now. It might indeed be a great opportunity,” Long Yue said.

Returning to the Spirit War Pavilion, when Xu Lan saw Xu Yan again, tears flowed freely, overwhelmed with joy and emotion.

In the Heavenly Camp, Chu Feng and Long Yue walked beside the lake.

“Brother Feng, what do you think of Xu Yan?” Long Yue suddenly asked.

“What do you mean?” Chu Feng was taken aback, feeling inexplicably guilty in Long Yue’s presence.

“That girl is deeply in love with you,” Long Yue said.

Chu Feng’s expression was complicated; he knew this well. The reason he hadn’t visited Xu Yan these past two years was mainly because of this. He did not want Xu Yan to fall too deeply.

After a moment’s silence, Chu Feng took Long Yue’s hand and said, “Little Yue, you know my heart belongs only to you.”

“It’s all your fault!” Long Yue teased.

“How was I at fault?” Chu Feng said innocently.

“You made her fall for you—that’s your fault. I want to see how you’ll handle this,” Long Yue said, looking at him with mock resentment. “Brother Feng, do you admit your mistake?”

As she spoke, her slender hand grasped Chu Feng’s waist.

“Uh, I admit it, isn’t that enough?” Chu Feng smiled wryly.

Long Yue then withdrew her hand and said, “There’s still some time before the Sacred Trial. Let’s go visit the ruins of Ancient Lin City first.”

“All right,” Chu Feng nodded.

Chu Feng and Long Yue boarded the Eagle Warship and headed toward the ruins of Ancient Lin City. As one of the survivors from back then, Chu Feng felt a heavy weight on his heart upon returning.

He knew everything from before was gone—neither people nor things remained. Ancient Lin City had vanished completely.

The ruins were a desolate wasteland, ashes scattered by raging flames, not even a broken wall remaining.

Years had passed, and wild grass grew everywhere, deepening the sorrowful atmosphere.

Just as Chu Feng stepped into the ruins, before he could even reflect, an unexpected event occurred.

The intact purple-red plaque suddenly shot out from Chu Feng’s storage ring, radiating a purple-red glow before them.

The earth trembled, as if something was bursting forth from underground.

“What’s going on? Could the plaque be connected to this place?” Chu Feng exclaimed.

Before they could think further, a purple-red beam erupted from the ground a few steps ahead, instantly forming a glowing portal that sucked Chu Feng and Long Yue in, the purple-red plaque also drawn inside.

Everything happened too suddenly, and the force was overwhelming. Chu Feng and Long Yue had no chance to resist.

On the Eagle Warship, the dozen or so people hadn’t even reacted yet. On the ground, Chu Feng and Long Yue had vanished, and the glowing portal quickly disappeared.

“What happened?” a guard exclaimed.

“It looks like the Pavilion Lord was sucked in!” another guard said, uncertain and alarmed.

Everyone exchanged glances, frightened and unsure of what to do.

However, having overheard Chu Feng and Long Yue discussing the purple-red plaque, they knew it might hold a great opportunity. One spoke up, “Let’s not panic. This might not be a bad thing. The Pavilion Lord could be getting a great chance.”

Others nodded and said, “Then let’s wait here calmly. If they don’t return in a month, we’ll report back.”

Inside the portal, Chu Feng and Long Yue felt as if traveling through a space-time tunnel. When their vision cleared and they steadied themselves, shock filled their hearts.

It was not dark, but they were underground. They could see stone walls and the ceiling surrounding them.

A huge luminous dome enveloped the space, preventing the stone walls from collapsing.

About thirty feet ahead stood a massive mansion with its gates tightly shut. Within were numerous halls—some still intact, but most in ruins. The mansion was also shrouded in a barrier.

At that moment, the floating plaque shimmered and suddenly grew larger, flying toward the mansion and hanging above its main gate.

Seeing this, Chu Feng’s heart leapt. “The Celestial Sovereign’s mansion! Could this really be the ancient residence of the prime Heavenly Sovereign?”

He hadn’t expected the small plaque to actually be a nameplate.

Before Chu Feng’s heart could settle, the massive gates of the mansion slowly began to open.
