Chapter 127: Spiritual Power
Christina emerged from the prison and followed Jian Jin back into the city. Upon arriving at the residential building, Jian Jin led her to Tina’s presence.
“Keane, what are you planning to do…” Tina glanced at Christina, a flicker of doubt crossing her eyes.
“Christina, take off your clothes!” Jian Jin commanded.
“Oh,” Christina said without much thought, only feeling a bit puzzled.
Tina’s concern grew urgent. “Keane, no!”
“Hm?”
“How can you use such coercion?” Tina spread her arms, blocking Christina’s path. “Even if you… at least Christina should agree to follow you first! And you already have me and Perin—aren’t you satisfied? Taking everyone you see like this, even I would be upset.”
“What are you thinking?” Jian Jin’s face darkened as he reached out to rub Tina’s head. “I just want to check her equipment and see if there’s any special attribute bonus. If it’s something that significantly increases magic power, I’ll give it to you to use!”
“Uh…” Tina blushed deeply at his words.
She had assumed Jian Jin wanted to add Christina to his harem. First, Christina hadn’t agreed to become Jian Jin’s follower yet; she was still a prisoner of war. Forcing anything on her would be war prisoner abuse! Although such acts existed everywhere, Tina didn’t want her husband to be that kind of person. Second, out of selfishness, Tina, already blessed by the Goddess of Love and officially married to Jian Jin, knew that as his power grew, he wouldn’t have just one wife. But she couldn’t bear the thought of him taking anyone he pleased—it would break her heart.
Realizing it was just her wild imagination, she felt embarrassed.
Once Jian Jin left and Tina closed the door, Christina quietly removed her priest’s robe and changed into a set of leather armor.
Tina handed the priest’s robe to Jian Jin, lowering her head, unable to meet his gaze.
“You silly girl!” Jian Jin smiled, poking her forehead with his finger before glancing at the robe.
[Fine-Quality Novice Priest’s Robe] Intelligence +10, Light Magic Power +10%, Magic Recovery Speed +20%.
It was a decent piece of equipment, at least blue-grade fine quality! Even General Zhuoma’s axe hadn’t reached fine quality yet.
But since it didn’t increase magic power, the problem wasn’t with the equipment.
“Give her the clothes back!” Jian Jin handed the purple priest’s robe to Tina.
Christina changed back into the robe inside the room, then followed Tina out to the hall where Jian Jin was seated.
“Sit!” Jian Jin gestured.
Christina nodded gently and gracefully took a seat on the stool.
Tina immediately approached Jian Jin from behind and began massaging his shoulders lightly. There was nothing else she could do to ease the awkwardness.
“Miss Christina,” Jian Jin said, looking at her, “I inspected your staff and priest’s robe and found no attributes that increase magic capacity. I want to know how you manage to use so many healing skills in battle. Could it be that priest skills consume no magic power?”
Magic power? Attributes? Christina was a bit confused but gathered her thoughts. “Lord Keane, are you referring to my spiritual power?”
“Spiritual power?” Jian Jin blinked in puzzlement.
“It’s also called mana, magical power, or what you call magic points,” Christina explained. “At least in the Church of Light, we call it spiritual power. It’s the essential foundation for casting spells. The stronger the spiritual power, the more magic one can cast, and even more powerful spells become possible.”
“Yes, yes! That’s it!” Jian Jin’s eyes lit up. “Tina is always short on spiritual power, which is why her magic runs out so quickly.”
“Magic runs out?” Christina was again confused, thinking these foreigners used many terms she didn’t understand.
“In short, how do you manage to use so much magic? Do you have a unique potion or special method to cultivate spiritual power?” Jian Jin hurried to ask.
“Not really special,” Christina thought for a moment. “Our priests meditate from a young age; that’s how we expand our spiritual power.”
“Can Tina learn this meditation?” Jian Jin asked eagerly.
“Maybe… I’m not sure,” Christina admitted.
“Teach her then! If you can help Tina learn meditation, I’ll set you free and let you return to Light City!”
“The priest’s duty is to help the world. I’m happy to teach meditation,” Christina said. “Allowing more people to understand the priest’s true essence is a principle my teacher always emphasized. But I’m just a newly ordained priest and have never taught anyone before, so I’m afraid I might not do well.”
“That’s fine! Just do your best.” Jian Jin was excited. He turned and said, “Tina, learn meditation well from Christina. Try to master it!”
“Thank you, Keane!” Tina bowed her head in gratitude and kissed her husband on the lips, blushing as she said, “I misunderstood you earlier, sorry!”
“It’s nothing!” Jian Jin chuckled softly.
“May I ask, was that kiss some kind of custom here?” Christina asked curiously.
“What?” Jian Jin and Tina exchanged puzzled looks.
“Well…” Christina pouted innocently and mimicked the kiss Tina had just given, then smiled with innocence. “Is this your local custom?”
Was she really that naive? Jian Jin was speechless and glanced at Tina.
Tina blinked, equally confused.
“I’m sorry, Lord Keane!” Christina said awkwardly when they didn’t answer. “I grew up in the Church of Light, and this is my first time leaving it. I don’t understand customs outside very well, and the books don’t describe them in detail. I only know the basic greetings, so these new customs are unfamiliar to me…”
“No…” Jian Jin thought no one could be that ignorant but was prepared to explain kindly.
Before he could speak, Tina interrupted with a smile: “Yes! This is our custom. When thanking Lord Keane, you must do this! But this custom is exclusive to Keane!”
Seeing the glint in Tina’s eyes, Jian Jin realized she was doing it on purpose.
