Chapter 113: The Shapeshifter and the Wilderness Mine
"Finally, success! Hahaha!" Jia Zhengjin released the shapeshifter from the beast pen, looking up at the massive creature with great excitement.
He had waited 48 hours for this very moment!
[Shapeshifter] (Rare Mount): Only at the moment of hatching is it truly itself. To survive in a dangerous world, this creature uses its innate talent to transform into different species, intimidating natural predators to ensure its safety. The only drawback is that this talent can only be used once!
It can only be used once? Does that mean once it transforms, its form is fixed and it can never revert or change into another species?
So, if this shapeshifter turns into a dragon, it stays in the shape of a dragon for the rest of its life?
That actually sounds pretty good!
The tamed shapeshifter was incredibly docile, resting its massive head on the ground in front of Jia Zhengjin without a single movement.
Jia Zhengjin leaped onto the top of its head, feeling thrilled. "Take off!"
"Roar—!!" The shapeshifter let out a thunderous dragon's roar, raised its head, and flapped its wings to soar into the sky.
Aside from having no combat capability, this fake dragon was indistinguishable from a real one!
The sound of the dragon's roar alerted all the villagers within the city. Everyone set aside their work and looked up toward the sky.
"Yahoo!" Standing atop the dragon's head, Jia Zhengjin felt an incomparable rush as he soared through the air and couldn't help but shout loudly.
"Long live Lord Dean!"
"Long live Lord Dean!"
Seeing that Lord Dean had completely tamed the dragon and was actually using the incredibly powerful creature as a mount, the villagers cheered wildly at the top of their lungs.
"Dean! Dean!" Near the residential buildings, Tina looked up, waving her arms vigorously and calling out to him.
"Land!" Jia Zhengjin immediately ordered the shapeshifter to descend to the ground, lowering its massive head to stop right in front of Tina.
"Dean!" Tina ran over happily, holding up her small hands.
Jia Zhengjin smiled, grabbed her slender, soft hands, and pulled her up to his side, embracing her. "Take off!"
"Wait!" Tina shouted hurriedly. "Wait for Perlin!"
No sooner had she spoken than a fully armed Perlin rushed out of the residential building, jumped up, landed on the dragon's head, and grabbed onto Jia Zhengjin’s arm firmly.
"Hold on tight!" Jia Zhengjin laughed and shouted, "Take off!"
"Whoosh! Whoosh—!" The fake dragon, the shapeshifter, flapped its wings, kicking up biting dust and sand as it carried them high into the sky.
Without the obstruction of the giant bee swarm this time, the shapeshifter flew higher and faster; the feeling was unprecedented!
"This feels amazing!" Jia Zhengjin gripped the dragon's horns, Tina on his left and Perlin on his right, both girls clutching his arms. Soaring through the sky like this was simply exhilarating!
"Dean, I'm so happy!" Tina shouted into his ear.
"Me too!" Jia Zhengjin replied with a smile, then turned to ask Perlin, "How about you?"
Perlin blinked expressionlessly.
"Sigh, what a buzzkill," Jia Zhengjin felt a moment of frustration. But he knew that was just how Perlin was, and he had to find a way to get used to it; after all, she was his woman too!
Jia Zhengjin steered the shapeshifter higher and higher, looking down at the city and forest that had become tiny, and a surge of boldness filled his heart.
"Dean, I can't breathe!" Tina suddenly said.
The higher they flew, the thinner the air became. As the one with the weakest physique, Tina was the first to feel uncomfortable.
Although Jia Zhengjin hadn't had his fill of flying yet, he felt a pang of heartache upon seeing his little wife’s condition and immediately had the shapeshifter stop ascending and turn back down.
Tina’s complexion finally improved, and she hugged Jia Zhengjin’s arm tightly. "I'm sorry, Dean!"
"Silly, what are you apologizing for?" Jia Zhengjin turned and kissed her affectionately. "I'm the one who should be sorry for not considering your condition."
A happy smile appeared on Tina’s face.
"Tina, let's go fly around the forest outside the city!" Jia Zhengjin said to his wife once the shapeshifter had descended to a reasonable altitude.
"Mm!" Tina nodded obediently.
"Let's go!" At his command, the shapeshifter glided steadily, beginning to circle the forest area surrounding the city.
Because of the appearance of this fake dragon, the forest was in chaos, with countless alien creatures fleeing wildly. For a time, the sky was filled with birds, and the beasts on the ground kicked up a terrifying dust storm.
Seeing the chaotic scene of the mass exodus, which even included some creatures that looked like magical beasts, Jia Zhengjin felt immensely satisfied.
From this day on, the area around the city could be explored safely! As long as they rode this fake dragon, dangerous alien creatures would flee in advance!
"Search for ore veins!" Riding on the dragon's head, Jia Zhengjin certainly wouldn't miss such a good opportunity. He immediately used his mining detection skill to start searching for nearby open-pit resources.
Everything was clear as day from the air!
The locations of the veins, the types of ore, and the surrounding environment were all visible at a glance!
Circling the base and expanding his search by about a kilometer, he soon discovered a gold mine with a significant yield!
Around the gold mine, there were two silver mines of similar size, along with some scattered iron and copper deposits.
The perfect location for an outdoor mine! Jia Zhengjin was thrilled and immediately steered the shapeshifter back to the city at high speed.
"Wolf!" He summoned his werewolf follower.
"What are your orders?" Wolf looked up at Jia Zhengjin riding on the fake dragon in the sky.
"Immediately summon 500 kobold soldiers, 500 kobold warriors, and the kobold chieftain!" Jia Zhengjin ordered loudly.
"Yes!"
"Oh, and bring all the kobold miners as well!"
Having received the orders, Wolf quickly brought almost all the kobolds from the nest before Jia Zhengjin.
"Kobolds, bring the construction materials!" Jia Zhengjin issued his instructions. "Then, the whole army will leave the city with me!"
All the kobolds busied themselves, gathering the essential materials for building a mine as Jia Zhengjin had directed, and followed behind the procession in a grand, sprawling line.
With the fake dragon leading the way, no alien creature dared to linger within a kilometer. Passing through without any obstacles, they reached the wilderness mining area, where Jia Zhengjin immediately used the blueprints to construct the mine and then assigned troops to it.
The kobold chieftain and the total of 1,000 kobold troops immediately moved into the mine structure.
The mine was massive; these thousand kobolds didn't even feel crowded inside!
For safety's sake, Jia Zhengjin also stationed the shapeshifter at the mine. With it squatting here, dangerous alien creatures would stay far away and live elsewhere. Other creatures would not stray into this area, ensuring the safety of the mine!
The kobold miners immediately got to work, and the ore they excavated was automatically transported into the mine. Jia Zhengjin would only need to come to the mine later to collect the resources he needed.
The mine also had a virtual storage space, and it was quite large, so there was no need to worry about it filling up.
