Linglingyao twisted and hesitated, unable to find the right words. Or rather, it simply didn’t know how to explain things to Li Chuxi.

Perhaps sensing Linglingyao’s embarrassment, Li Chuxi sighed after a long pause. “Forget it. I won’t hold the past against you. But if something like this happens again, and you make such solemn promises, don’t blame me if I’m not so forgiving.”

“I understand, Host, you’re truly wonderful!” Linglingyao’s tone was filled with a hint of ingratiation. “I promise, from now on, I won’t hide anything from you.”

Despite Linglingyao’s earnest vow, Li Chuxi remained skeptical. After all, having spent so many years together, she well knew how unreliable Linglingyao could be.

Though aware that Li Chuxi harbored doubts about its words, Linglingyao felt lifted in spirits. After a couple of giggles, it quickly changed the subject.

“Host, what are you planning to do next? That new film by Director Chen—are you really going to just take any small role as an extra? That won’t earn you much popularity at all!”

“We’ll see when the time comes,” Li Chuxi smiled. “Besides, we don’t even know what the new film is about yet. It’s too early to talk about roles.”

“What?” Linglingyao’s voice was incredulous. “Host, how could you not know?”

“Isn’t it normal for me not to know?” Li Chuxi replied irritably. “You know I just came back recently. When would I have had the time to follow Director Chen’s new project?”

“But… but…” Linglingyao grew anxious. “In the memories of the otherworldly soul—”

“There’s nothing about it there either,” Li Chuxi cut in plainly. “She did want to act in Director Chen’s new film. But her biggest wish was to become famous. What she cared about was Director Chen, not the project itself.”

That was why she had rushed back to the Li family, hoping they could help secure a role in Director Chen’s new production. She simply hadn’t expected the Li family to be so indifferent.

Linglingyao fretted. “Then, Host, why don’t you hurry up and find out more?”

“No rush,” Li Chuxi said confidently, a smile playing on her lips. “We’ll soon know what the project is. Besides—”

“Director Chen’s films always require auditions. Once the audition news comes out, we’ll go then.”

If Linglingyao hadn’t mentioned her need to regain her special abilities through popularity points, Li Chuxi might have actually considered taking on an extra role just to get started.

Now, it seemed clear that if she wanted to gain popularity points, she had to work seriously in the entertainment industry. Beyond the entertainment circle, there really was no quick way to boost her popularity.

“Huh?”

This time it was Linglingyao who was a bit stunned. “Host, how do you know all this? Didn’t you say the memories of that otherworldly soul didn’t—”

“It’s true there’s no content about Director Chen’s new film in those memories,” Li Chuxi smiled. “But there are some of Director Chen’s habits recorded there, and the rest I’ve deduced logically.”

“Host, you’re truly amazing,” Linglingyao immediately began showering her with praise. “You will definitely shine brilliantly in the entertainment world.”
