Alaska—an austere land of ice and snow, where howling winds sweep swirling flakes across the barren expanse. The sky hung heavy and gray, the sun offering no warmth. Far from the clamor of civilization, this desolation concealed the world’s largest and most perilous conspiracy.

A stealth transport aircraft descended slowly through the blizzard. As the cabin door opened, a biting gust poured in.

“Welcome to Alaska,” Zhao Ming said, tightening his heavy cold-weather gear, his breath quickly vanishing into the frigid air.

Xu Yunchuan stood at the doorway, his gaze sharp and unyielding, fixed on the endless ice fields. “The Heart of the Abyss lies buried beneath this glacier.”

Mission Briefing

Inside a hastily erected command tent, Zhao Ming projected a satellite map onto his tablet. A red dot marked the target.

“This is the core location intercepted through the Arctic data nodes. The ‘Heart of the Abyss’ project resides in an abandoned underground research facility in Alaska, buried some 300 meters beneath the permafrost.”

Shen Qingwan took over. “This facility was originally a Cold War military base, later abandoned. Apparently, the Abyss Consortium has transformed it into a global data relay hub and command center.”

“The operations conducted here are enough to seize control over the world’s new energy networks,” Zhao Ming added.

“We have but one objective—to destroy the Heart of the Abyss and shatter the Abyss Consortium’s technological grip,” Xu Yunchuan declared coolly.

All nodded in unison, their eyes resolute.

Frigid Infiltration

Night fell as fine snow began to drift from the sky. The special ops team split into two groups: Zhao Ming remained at the command tent to provide remote technical support; Xu Yunchuan and Shen Qingwan led the other through the ice fields toward the underground facility.

Dressed in white camouflage, the team advanced silently, leaving no trace upon the snow.

“Heat signatures detected five hundred meters ahead—guard posts,” Zhao Ming’s voice crackled in their earpieces.

Xu Yunchuan signaled a halt, scanning the darkness before them. He produced a miniature telescope and spotted two soldiers patrolling in the cold wind.

“Qingwan, flank around. Zhao Ming, disrupt their surveillance systems.”

Fingers flying over the keyboard, Zhao Ming reported, “Done. Surveillance systems are now in silent mode—five-minute window.”

Leading the team, Xu Yunchuan and Shen Qingwan slipped past the guards and entered the target zone.

---

Underground Base

The entrance to the underground facility was concealed within a glacier crevice, sealed by a heavy alloy door.

“Zhao Ming, can you crack the lock system?” Shen Qingwan inquired.

“Attempting now... their firewall is formidable. Give me two minutes.”

Time ticked away amid the howling wind. The soldiers held their breath.

“Unlocked. Opening the door,” Zhao Ming whispered.

The alloy door creaked open, releasing a rush of warm air. The team hurried inside as the door sealed behind them.

---

Core Area

Dim lights illuminated the underground passage, steel beams and pipes crisscrossing overhead, the air thick with the scent of machine oil.

“This isn’t an abandoned base—it’s a high-tech laboratory,” Shen Qingwan murmured.

Xu Yunchuan gripped his weapon, signaling the team forward.

---

At the end of the corridor lay a vast underground hall, hundreds of servers arrayed in neat rows, a massive quantum computing core glowing with blue light.

Kane stood at the central console, a cold smile playing on his lips.

“Xu Yunchuan, I knew you’d come. Welcome to the Heart of the Abyss.”

“Kane,” Xu Yunchuan said icily.

Kane spread his hands, exuding calm. “You’re clever, but it’s too late. The core program has already activated. Control over all zero-carbon cities worldwide will soon be ours.”

Shen Qingwan clenched her fists. “Your greed will not prevail!”

“Greed?” Kane sneered. “No, this is control over the future—the rebirth of human civilization. And you’re merely futile resistance.”

---

Life-or-Death Duel

“Zhao Ming, can you remotely interfere with their core program?” Xu Yunchuan asked softly.

“I’m trying, but their security system is unimaginably complex. It will take time,” Zhao Ming replied over comms.

“We have no time. We must destroy the core device manually,” Xu Yunchuan said, determination in his eyes.

Kane sneered and gestured to his armed guards. “Stop them!”

Gunfire erupted, the air thick with the acrid scent of smoke. A fierce firefight broke out within the server hall.

“Shen Qingwan, cover me!” Xu Yunchuan charged toward the control console.

Kane retreated to the side, watching the chaos with cold eyes before disappearing through a side door.

---

Countdown Initiated

Xu Yunchuan reached the control console and inserted a portable virus device.

“Zhao Ming, I’m connected. Initiate the program!” he shouted.

“Injecting virus... but Kane set a self-destruct countdown!” Zhao Ming’s voice trembled with urgency.

A huge red timer appeared on the screen:

00:10:00

“Self-destruct sequence activated. Evacuate immediately,” an electronic voice echoed through the hall.

---

Last Stand

“We can’t leave! If this self-destructs, the core data of the Heart of the Abyss will be lost, and all our efforts wasted,” Shen Qingwan said.

“Zhao Ming, any other options?” Xu Yunchuan asked anxiously.

“There is, but it requires forcibly overriding the self-destruct program. I’m working on it—give me five minutes!”

“We don’t have five minutes,” Xu Yunchuan clenched his fists.

---

Kane’s Shadow

In the underground escape passage, Kane stared coldly at his tablet, the countdown relentlessly ticking down.

“Xu Yunchuan, no matter how clever you are, you won’t win this game.”

He turned and walked toward a waiting helicopter, vanishing into the darkness.

---

Final Moment

Countdown: 00:01:00

“Zhao Ming, done yet?!” Xu Yunchuan yelled.

“Thirty more seconds!”

“Everyone, retreat!” Xu Yunchuan commanded loudly.

He withdrew the storage device, eyes resolute, leading the team in a desperate sprint toward the exit.

At 00:00:05,

a deafening explosion shattered the silence behind them. The entire underground facility collapsed in flames.

The transport aircraft lifted off slowly as they watched the fiery inferno consume the ground and the glacier crack under the blast.

---

Xu Yunchuan clenched his fist, gazing out the window toward the distance. “Kane, your end has come.”

Zhao Ming’s voice came through the headset: “We successfully copied the core data, but this war is far from over.”

The storm had yet to pass—the decisive battle loomed ahead.
