Chapter 141: Wanda Versus the Avengers
“How could you not know? That meteorite isn’t just any rock—it’s Arthur, isn’t it? Why would you even ask such a strange question?” Sam looked at Wanda, puzzled.
“Of course I know it’s Arthur. But do you know where Arthur is now?” Wanda tried to hide her embarrassment, nearly slipping up, yet hearing Arthur’s name stirred excitement in her as she asked.
“You’re not Wanda! Who are you?” Sam suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it at Wanda, demanding an answer.
There was no way this woman before him was Wanda. They had discussed Arthur’s departure in a meeting, and yet this person seemed completely unaware. She had to be an impostor!
“I am Wanda. You’re just being overly sensitive,” Wanda waved her hand, trying to reason.
“Cut the nonsense. The real Wanda wouldn’t be ignorant of Arthur’s situation. Who are you, really?” Sam pressed, gun still trained on her.
“Intruder alert!” Sam said into his earpiece.
Wanda sensed things were turning sour and that stalling would only make matters worse.
“Sorry about this!” she said, suddenly unleashing energy that instantly subdued Sam. Placing her hand on his head, she delved into his memories.
“Ah!!” Sam struggled but was bound by the crimson chaotic energy, powerless as a force invaded his mind. Instantly, memories of Arthur flooded his thoughts.
From Sam’s memories, Wanda learned Arthur’s whereabouts. She breathed a sigh of relief—Arthur hadn’t been captured. He had used magic to summon a teleportation portal and escape. True to form, even injured, no one could catch Arthur.
At that moment, a burst of energy cannon fire struck Wanda. She released Sam and raised a magical shield to block the attack.
“Wanda? What’s going on?” A red figure descended from the sky—it was Tony Stark in his Iron Man suit.
“She’s not Wanda! Seize her!” Sam, still dizzy and nauseous on the ground, warned Stark.
“Who are you? Surrender immediately, or I’ll have to use force!” Tony’s voice echoed from his armor as he raised his repulsor cannon at Wanda, ready to attack.
“Sorry, Sam. I just wanted to find out about Arthur. Now I have to leave. You’d better not stand in my way,” Wanda said, enveloping herself in red energy and soaring away.
“Trying to run? Not so easy!” Tony charged after her, firing his repulsor cannon.
Wanda extended her right hand midair, conjuring a red magical shield that blocked Tony’s attack.
The two battled in the sky, though only Tony attacked while Wanda stayed on the defensive, unwilling to strike back and escalate the conflict.
“Who exactly are you?” Tony noticed the woman looked identical to Wanda, with the same dark red energy, yet her defensive style was more elegant and the mysterious energy shield was something the real Wanda never used.
“Apologies!” Wanda said, compressing her red energy against Tony’s armor, pinning him in midair. She summoned deep crimson magical chains with both hands and hurled them at Tony.
The chains wrapped Tony up tightly, and under Wanda’s red energy cocoon, he was gently lowered onto the grass.
“This never ends!” As Wanda prepared to leave, another challenger arrived—Colonel Rhodes, donning his Iron Patriot armor, launched an attack.
Wanda had no choice but to raise her magical shield in defense. Suddenly, a cloaked man appeared before her, and behind him followed another Wanda.
“Wanda? No, who are you?” Vision asked the Wanda in the air.
All the Avengers glanced between Vision’s Wanda and the floating Wanda, stunned—how could there be two identical Wandas?
Taking advantage of their shock, the airborne Wanda tried to slip away, but Vision blocked her path. He struck a punch, which she blocked and countered with a kick.
Just then, a burst of red energy shot toward the airborne Wanda—it was the Wanda who had come with Vision attacking.
The airborne Wanda’s magical shield blocked the red energy. She surged upward, intending to escape by force, but Vision was equally swift and pursued, engaging her in combat.
“Who are you? Ultron?” Wanda asked Vision, who was fighting her fiercely. She recognized him well; he was the one who had nearly killed her before.
“No! I am Vision!” Vision retorted, surprised that this Wanda called him Ultron as they battled.
This woman fought with far greater skill than Wanda, agile and wielding strange energy attacks, Vision thought.
Suddenly, the gem on Vision’s forehead emitted a golden beam toward Wanda. Wanda formed a red energy sphere in her hand, releasing a dark crimson blast that collided with Vision’s golden energy, causing a massive explosion.
Boom!
Both Wanda and Vision were blasted apart, landing hard on the grass.
“Vision! Are you okay?” The other Wanda hurried over, helping Vision up with concern.
The Wanda who had just landed looked at this Wanda from their own universe, amazed by how much she cared for the man named Vision. What was their relationship?
Tony Stark broke free from Wanda’s magical chains and approached her. Looking her over, he said, “I know who you are. You said you’re here to find Arthur and called Vision Ultron. That means you’re the Wanda from Arthur’s universe.”
Tony Stark revealed Wanda’s identity outright. Arthur had once said their world had no Vision; Ultron had taken the vibranium body. The energy this Wanda wielded was identical to the real Wanda’s, but notably, she only defended and never struck back, clearly unwilling to harm them.
“What! She’s Wanda from Arthur’s universe?” Everyone was stunned. Arthur’s claim of coming from another universe had been hard to believe.
Yet now, with a Wanda identical to theirs standing before them, disbelief was impossible.
“Fine, I admit it. You guessed right. I am from another universe. I’m here to find Arthur,” Wanda confessed, realizing she couldn’t hide the truth.
“She... is me from another universe?” The Wanda of this world looked at her identical counterpart, speechless. The feeling was surreal.
Vision gazed at this Wanda with complex emotions. Arthur hadn’t lied. This Wanda risked her safety to cross universes in search of Arthur, even daring to come alone to the Avengers’ base. Their relationship must be extraordinary.
“Okay, okay. So now we know both Wandas are real, but she’s from another universe?” Sam asked, disbelief evident.
Tony nodded, exchanging a look with Rhodes, both sharing the same astonishment.
“Alright, now that we understand your situation, there’s no need to fight anymore. Arthur has already left, and we don’t know where he went,” Tony said.
“I saw that from Sam’s memories,” Wanda replied.
“You read my mind in an instant. You’re definitely more powerful than our Wanda,” Sam admired the bold Wanda.
“Thanks for the compliment. I often spar with you all, so I’m familiar with your moves—except his!” Wanda pointed at Vision.
“Is that the Mind Stone? How does the Mind Stone end up on his forehead in this world?” Wanda asked, staring at the familiar gem on Vision’s head.
“That’s the gem from Loki’s scepter. Is it really called the Mind Stone? Such a beautiful name. It created me; we’re one,” Vision said, touching the gem.
