...
Time slipped away bit by bit, and before long, more than half an hour had passed.
During this period, the Zhongzhou squad, operating separately, resembled relentless warriors from a neighboring film set, relentlessly harvesting alien lives with even greater efficiency.
Whether it was the most powerful Warrior Aliens, the teamwork-savvy Worker Aliens, or the stealthy Stalker Aliens, under overwhelming force and firepower, they struggled to mount any meaningful resistance and all became reward points credited to the Zhongzhou team.
Among them, Wu Xian at the rear effortlessly slew eleven more aliens or mutants, adding to the previous three Warrior Aliens, accumulating over 5,000 reward points—a truly fruitful haul.
Next was Zheng Zha, who had activated the second-tier gene lock, allowing perfect mastery over the Class-C vampire vassal mutation and the skill “Blood Flame.” Even in a one-on-one duel against the Alien Queen, he held over a seventy percent chance of victory.
Thus, his performance in battle was equally effortless, decapitating eight aliens in total.
As for the others, with Wu Xian’s help, Zhan Lan eliminated five aliens; Mou Gang and Li Xiaoyi took down four each; even newcomer Zero Point managed a triple kill with his Barrett rifle.
In all, thirty-eight aliens were slain, leaving only a few remaining on the surveillance footage. Everything seemed to be progressing favorably.
Yet, while the thrill of racking up points was undeniable, Wu Xian did not fully relax, nor did he believe the horror was over.
Beyond the significant side quests, there was undoubtedly still an Alien Queen aboard this ship.
If they could not deal with her, more alien eggs would hatch, and if the Overseer counted alien eggs and facehuggers as well, the main mission’s difficulty would surely escalate.
Should they fail in the end, not only would all prior gains be forfeited, but a substantial penalty in reward points would be imposed—an utterly frustrating prospect.
With a slight exertion of force, Wu Xian tore an alien’s tongue out by the root. Amid its agonized shrieks, he swung the Hunyuan Yan downward, smashing most of its body into a pulp.
---
The corrosive fluid sprayed forth was stopped by an invisible energy barrier before reaching Wu Xian.
Finally, Zhan Lan stepped forward, producing a neutralizing spray prepared in advance, coating the surrounding area to prevent the metallic floor from corroding and causing serious damage to the spaceship.
Scenes like these had appeared often in the “Alien” film series, so before entering this horror scenario, the Zhongzhou team had already considered such risks and sought to avoid them as much as possible.
“Friday, no sign of the Alien Queen yet?” Wu Xian glanced back at the three figures trailing him and quietly asked over the private channel, his tone carrying a hint of peculiarity.
If Zheng Zha and the others were present, they would be surprised to see that the five newcomers initially taken by Wu Xian now numbered only Chu Xuan and Zero Point. The three unruly youths had vanished.
Indeed, aside from the one killed by aliens at the start, the other two had also left the team—not due to alien attacks, but because they couldn’t keep pace with Wu Xian and had been thoroughly frightened. They chose to retreat, seeking a safe place to hide until the horror episode ended.
Regardless of their baffling decision, Wu Xian welcomed it. Before parting, he handed each one a pistol and sent them off with blessings from the Overseer’s domain.
However, the reality was...
[Master, those two gentlemen have been attacked by aliens and lost vital signs. Yet, like their companions, they were not taken to any alien-like nests.]
“Is that so... It seems the aliens still have ample flesh reserves. So many killed, yet they don’t seem intent on replenishing their nourishment.”
Wu Xian frowned slightly; this was unlike what he had anticipated.
Before the Overseer’s shield vanished, Wu Xian had secretly implanted tracking chips on all the newcomers.
The plan was that if anyone was abducted by aliens, “Friday” could track and locate the alien nest and the Alien Queen’s position.
But now it seemed this plan had failed.
Not only had his three unruly youths been attacked, but Zheng Zha’s group had also suffered a casualty—killed on the spot with no interest shown by the aliens in their bodies.
“Tch! This complicates things... Friday, how many areas are currently unmonitored? Generate a floor plan of the spaceship and mark them.”
[At once, Master...]
Friday promptly complied, displaying a map on the helmet’s internal screen, marking all unmonitored zones with red dots.
---
Staring at the densely scattered red dots across the ship, Wu Xian’s eye twitched. Resigned, he activated the team voice channel:
“Zhongzhou squad, all personnel, assemble at the main control room within five minutes.”
“Roger! x4”
The Zhongzhou team’s official members responded in unison, their voices tinged with excitement and satisfaction, clearly pleased with their haul and already imagining how to spend their reward points upon returning to the Overseer’s domain.
Wu Xian shook his head, then turned his gaze to Chu Xuan, who was crouched beside an alien corpse.
Feigning ignorance, he asked, “What are you looking at? Aside from analyzing intel, do you have knowledge of biological research?”
“Somewhat,” Chu Xuan replied casually, then stood to meet Wu Xian’s eyes.
“I have to admit, your strength and that of your teammates far exceed my expectations. Some of my original plans may be unnecessary.
But judging from the current situation, completing the main mission shown on the watch within the time limit still faces major challenges.”
“Oh? Do tell.”
Wu Xian raised an eyebrow, inviting Chu Xuan to elaborate.
“Just now, through Zhan Lan and your AI, I confirmed several things. It’s almost certain that more aliens are hiding aboard this spaceship.
Moreover, it’s highly likely there’s a source capable of continuously producing aliens—the Alien Queen from the later films.”
Chu Xuan pushed up his glasses, the symbol of wisdom gleaming once more.
“Based on the intel, this spaceship is far larger than depicted in the original ‘Alien’ movie, with over a hundred crew members aboard. Yet, including the heroine Ripley, all have gone missing.
“In the worst case, their bodies have been used to cultivate new aliens. So you’ll need to kill at least seventy more aliens, plus the hidden Alien Queen, to have any chance of completing the Overseer’s mission.”
He glanced at Wu Xian’s Black God suit and the Hunyuan Yan in his hand, sighing softly.
“But obviously, even if you have the ability, the remaining time is absolutely insufficient.
Unless you can find the hidden Alien Queen within half an hour, kill her as swiftly as possible, and then use the little time left to clear the remaining unseen aliens.”
