Chapter 17 Wu Xian: Move it! Come inside with me! (Please keep reading and add it to your collection!)
“Creating humans—turns out it’s literal…”
A few minutes later, after listening to Wu Xian’s explanation about creating humans, the three men present all brightened with understanding. Zhan Lan, however, looked on with disdain and contempt, eyeing the three as if they were rubbish, and finally shot a glare at Wu Xian, as if blaming him for spoiling the spirit of the Zhongzhou team.
Wu Xian shrugged, signaling it wasn’t his fault—it was all the overseer’s doing.
At the same time, Zheng Zha suddenly seemed to realize something, his breath growing heavy and labored.
He stepped forward quickly, placing both hands on Wu Xian’s shoulders, and asked excitedly, “Wu Xian... no, Captain, what you said is true? The overseer can create real humans based on our imagination and memories? Not some kind of inflatable doll or toy?”
“Of course. If it were just some fancy inflatable doll, how could it be considered a benefit? The overseer has to maintain some dignity, you know.”
Wu Xian fully understood what Zheng Zha was thinking but pretended to be doubtful, furrowing his brows. “Judging by your expression, did you lose someone important before entering the overseer’s realm, and now you want to replicate her exactly from your memories?”
“How do you know that?”
Zheng Zha was taken aback and suspicious that Wu Xian might have mind-reading powers. Otherwise, how could he know his thoughts?
“I don’t have mind-reading abilities. It’s just that I’ve seen situations like yours before... yes, that teammate who self-destructed—he used the chance to create a human to replicate his deceased lover. His expression then was exactly like yours now.”
“Oh, I see.”
Zheng Zha’s eyes lit up with understanding, then asked excitedly, “Did he succeed? Was the created human really identical to his lover?”
“Exactly identical. They even spent some blissful time together, practically shamelessly flaunting their love in the overseer’s realm every day—couldn’t have been any more affectionate.”
Wu Xian spun the tale effortlessly, as if possessed by an actor, a hint of sadness crossing his face. “But what does it matter? They still parted ways in the end.”
“Parted? How... you mean that guy self-destructed in the horror scenario, and his created human disappeared with him?”
Zheng Zha probed cautiously, a bad premonition gnawing at him.
“Created humans do vanish along with their creators, but that’s not always the case.”
Wu Xian looked Zheng Zha deep in the eyes. “What do you think the purpose of creating humans is? Merely to satisfy the desires of the reincarnators?”
“No. The overseer also allows you to adjust the physical attributes of the created human. If you wish, you can make them powerful bodyguards. If you have extra reward points and side quests, you can even enhance them and take them with you into the horror scenarios to help complete missions.”
Hearing this, everyone present was momentarily stunned. None had expected such a use for created humans. The overseer was surprisingly considerate.
“How could this be... No! I would never do that! I won’t let her face any danger!!”
Zheng Zha froze for a moment, then let out a low, hysterical roar.
---
“Do you think you have a choice?”
Wu Xian’s expression darkened as he invoked his ‘Creating Friends from Nothing’ technique again. “The overseer forces created humans to participate in horror scenarios. For example, in ‘Final Destination,’ my teammate lost control of his energy after seeing his created human die in front of him, which caused him to self-destruct.”
Hearing this, Zheng Zha’s anger was instantly doused like a bucket of cold water; he collapsed weakly to the ground, mumbling “impossible” or the like.
“Of course, that incident was too sudden. After I returned, I asked the overseer carefully and learned that by spending a D-level plot point, you can redeem your created human, preventing them from being forced into horror scenarios... though even then, it’s not entirely safe—who knows what else the overseer might throw at you.”
At once, a spark of hope rekindled in Zheng Zha’s eyes.
But Wu Xian ignored him, turning to Mu Gang and Li Xiaoyi with a serious expression.
“Let me emphasize again: created humans are living beings, not inflatable dolls. Their personalities and emotions might be shaped by your imagination, but that doesn’t mean they lack self-awareness or individuality.”
“If you’re just looking for tools to relieve desires, I have no objection. For reincarnators, proper stress relief is beneficial.”
“But if you want real family or a lover, I advise you to think carefully before deciding to bring them into existence.”
His words fell heavy, silencing everyone.
Except Zhan Lan, who remained aloof; the previously excited Li Xiaoyi and Mu Gang suddenly grew sober, eyes avoiding Wu Xian.
Zheng Zha struggled visibly before finally making a decision. He exhaled deeply, bitterness etched on his face as he looked at everyone. “Everyone, want to hear my story?”
How could I say no?
Wu Xian was speechless inside but maintained his composed, reliable persona and said patiently, “I’m all ears.”
“I... once had a childhood sweetheart, her name was Lori…”
And so on and so forth.
For about two thousand words, Zheng Zha recounted the story of him and Lori.
In summary, they were childhood sweethearts who liked each other and promised to be together when grown up.
Sadly, the girl contracted cancer and passed away before growing up, leaving the boy devastated and sinking into self-destruction, living like a scoundrel.
To be fair, such a story isn’t uncommon—many Korean dramas follow similar plots.
But this was still 2007, when people’s emotional triggers were relatively simple. Everyone present, except Wu Xian, had moist eyes, clearly moved by Zheng Zha’s tale.
---
“So, have you decided to create her after all?”
Wu Xian frowned, trying one last plea. “Actually, besides creating humans, the overseer’s realm has resurrection options. One day, if you grow strong enough, you might be able to resurrect Lori directly. Then you can explain to her how to face a created human identical to her.”
“Resurrection... that’s too far off for me. And if that day ever comes, I’ll explain to Lori that whether it’s her or her replica, both are equally important to me. I won’t abandon either.”
Zheng Zha’s gaze was serious, like a steadfast warrior of pure love.
Damn, it’s the first time hearing someone defend two-timing with such righteousness—it’s truly eye-opening!
Wu Xian looked at Zheng Zha with disdain, almost forgetting this guy was hardly a respectable man.
In real life, he was promiscuous; in the overseer’s realm, he almost built a harem. If he resurrected the real Lori, who knows if that very night he wouldn’t indulge in some shameless escapades with both women.
Disgraceful!
“Heh heh heh, fine, fine, since you’re so ambitious, I’ll make sure to train you well!”
Wu Xian gritted his teeth, then grabbed Zheng Zha by the neck, dragging him toward his room. “Elbow! Inside, now!”
“Hey! Wait! Didn’t you say we’d wait until after lunch?”
Zheng Zha panicked slightly. His instincts warned him something terrible was about to befall him.
“Time waits for no one. If you want to grow stronger, you must cherish every second. You don’t want your weakness to drag Lori down with you, do you?”
“But I haven’t even created her yet...”
“Enough talk. In you go!”
Bang!
At the dining table, the three forgotten reincarnators watched the door slam shut in the distance and fell silent.
So... didn’t they just say they’d train together? Now, should they go in or not?
