The Man of the Demonic Path
At this moment, the Yun Family Manor noticed the disturbance and dispatched several skilled fighters from within to assist. Yun Feiyue narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched the unfolding battle ahead, showing no intention of intervening.
Yun Feng was also considering whether or not to step in. Although this person was fighting with Le Fei, it was clear their true target was Yun Feiyue.
“Third Brother, don’t bother watching any longer. Let’s go,” Yun Feiyue said indifferently, turning to walk toward the Yun Family Manor, as if the matter had nothing to do with her at all. The fierce arrogance from before seemed to have vanished in an instant.
Seeing Yun Feiyue walking away, Yun Feng quickly followed. “Yue’er, are we really going to leave it alone?”
Sounds of fighting echoed from behind them…
Le Fei’s ability to handle the Ghost Dao assassin was uncertain.
Lost in thought, Yun Feiyue was suddenly blocked by several figures ahead.
“Trying to leave? It won’t be that easy, will it?” These people were clearly from the Ghost Dao, though not many had come this time, and the young master of the Ghost Nether, previously seen, was absent.
Only the wizened, mummified old man who always accompanied Ghost Nether was present.
“Hey, you old corpse, do you really think a useless wretch like you can take on me?” Yun Feiyue lifted her head and smiled faintly.
The old man snorted, “I am not a wretch. I am Infernal Flame!”
Yun Feiyue’s eyes narrowed, and a smile curled her lips. “Then today, I’ll turn you into a blaze in hell itself.”
As she spoke, Yun Feiyue lightly conjured a ball of fire and hurled it at the old man.
He spun his cane, “This time, I fear I won’t be so easily—”
He hadn’t finished speaking before flames engulfed him…
The Ghost Dao members had no idea Yun Feiyue had already recovered her strength and still thought she was as she had been before. They never expected her progress to be so swift, nor that her fire would burn far fiercer than before.
The old man struggled for a long time to extinguish the flames, looking at Yun Feiyue with suspicion. “You… you’ve improved so quickly?”
“Early stage of the Celestial Martial Ranking. You should know I won’t use my full strength to deal with you unless you truly anger me. If you do, don’t blame me for being merciless.”
With that, Yun Feiyue suddenly flashed before the old man.
The Ghost Dao followers with him instantly began to spin in formation. An array?
Only then did Yun Feiyue realize they were using an array. Such things were arcane, seldom studied by martial artists, and only those of the Celestial Path delved into them. So… it seemed what Luo Yunhuang had said was true: the Ghost Dao and the Celestial Path shared the same origin.
“This time, you must die.” Infernal Flame struck his staff, and in an instant, he vanished from sight.
“Yue’er, this array is strange. We can’t see anything clearly,” Yun Feng observed intently, watching as the surroundings shifted.
A chilling wind swept through, slicing at their faces like knives, carrying the power of the Ghost Dao. It tossed black hair and flowing robes, yet the three stood motionless in the storm...
At the Yun Family Manor, Murong Shengqing looked at Murong Fenghua with anticipation. “Brother, why aren’t you helping Feiyue? Brother…”
Murong Fenghua only glanced at the woman in the wind with indifference. “If she can’t handle a trick like this, why should I help her?”
“You…” Murong Shengqing stomped in frustration, a flush rising to his youthful cheeks. “Feiyue is a martial arts master. She can’t break an array. Anyone ignorant of arrays is as good as dead without overwhelming power.”
Murong Fenghua remained silent, waving his sleeve with effortless grace.
Murong Shengqing huffed, “Stupid brother! I don’t like you anymore. I’m going to help my cousin…”
With that, he dashed outside. Murong Fenghua frowned slightly but still did not move.
Eyes from all sides were fixed on the unfolding events. The Ghost Dao wanted Yun Feiyue dead, and many hidden enemies wished for her demise as well. After all, a master was always a thorn in the side of rivals.
“Sister, should we help her?” Jun Qianyu stood by the window, her gaze thoughtful.
Jun Shaomo looked at the shadowy figure in the darkness, lips pressed together. “Save her.”
“But, sister, just now I saw that their futures were a blank void.” Jun Qianyu lifted her head to look at Jun Shaomo.
Jun Shaomo’s mouth fell open. “How… how could that be?”
A future Jun Qianyu could not see belonged either to a dead person, or someone beyond the eyes of the gods—those not of this world, or above it. Jun Qianyu herself was such an unseen one.
“Sister, I speak the truth. So, do you really want to save them?” Jun Qianyu asked again.
Jun Shaomo looked toward Yun Feiyue, her hand unconsciously tightening into a small fist. “Let’s wait and see…”
Jun Qianyu nodded, her gaze shifting to Little Mumu.
Little Mumu rubbed her eyes. “Mother, I see it! Left side, fifteen degrees.”
Finally, a weakness was found!
Yun Feiyue lifted her Buddhist butterfly sword and stabbed precisely in that direction.
“Break!”
Murong Shengqing had just reached the edge of the array, ready to act, when he saw the sword formation shatter. A group of Ghost Dao members collapsed to the ground.
Yun Feiyue glanced down at her fallen foes and kicked one aside. “Useless trash. Blocking my way!”
Murong Shengqing was stunned—when had his cousin become so ruthless?
“Cousin…” he managed to squeeze out a bright smile.
Yun Feiyue patted his shoulder. “Little cousin, if you can’t smile, don’t force it. Don’t be like our elder cousin—he bullies his younger cousins while pretending to be gentle and kind.”
Murong Shengqing tried to defend Murong Fenghua, “Brother is gentle by nature.”
Gentle? Yun Feiyue laughed aloud. She hadn’t forgotten the beatings she suffered at his hands as a child. Gentle? Hardly.
“Perhaps his gentleness is reserved just for you?”
Murong Shengqing’s face flushed red, suddenly lost for words.
Not far away, a certain gentle crane-riding deity had black lines of exasperation across his forehead. He was the very image of celestial poise, a faint white radiance enveloping him like a god as he descended astride a white crane.
With a wave of his hand, the nearby Ghost Dao minions were instantly reduced to dust.
Did everyone think he was helping Yun Feiyue? Not at all! He simply couldn’t bring himself to strike Yun Feiyue in public and picked a random thug to vent his anger instead.
