Chapter Sixteen: Reaping Benefits from the Production Team and Selling Them Back to Them
Page 1/3
Having just finished signing, Dong Xuan looked at the scattered vegetables and watermelon on the ground with a hint of worry. How were they supposed to sell all this and make some money? After all, there was no way a few people could consume so much. It would be better to sell it in exchange for contribution points.
“We definitely can’t eat all this ourselves. How about we sell the produce to the guests?” suggested one of them.
“Yeah, they probably need ingredients for cooking, right?” another chimed in.
“That won’t work. Think about it—if we sell to them, will they pay us a good price?” Xu Xiu stopped the others.
“But we can only sell to them, or else all this watermelon will go to waste,” Meng Ziyi wrinkled her nose.
Xu Xiu smiled mysteriously. “Who said we can only sell to the guests?”
The three of them were stunned. If not to the guests, who else would they sell to? Surely not the local farmers—they all had their own vegetable gardens. Would they really buy their vegetables and watermelons?
Without explaining, Xu Xiu asked a staff member for directions and then led the group, carrying the goods, to a makeshift shed.
The sight inside left everyone dumbfounded—they had actually come to the production crew’s backstage kitchen!
Wow...
The three of them felt their understanding of the situation shattered. Could this really be done? Taking goods pilfered from the production crew and then selling them right back to the same crew?!
Amazing!
“Ma’am, do you take goods here?” Xu Xiu asked the older woman who came out.
The woman was momentarily confused, unsure how to respond.
Fortunately, a middle-aged man soon appeared. Judging by his attire, he was one of the show’s guests.
He hadn’t expected these people’s purpose here—to sell things?
“What are you doing here?”
“Oh, sir, we’re here to sell some goods.”
“How much are you asking for? If it’s too expensive, we won’t buy!”
The man was wary; money was tight, and cooking all day only earned him a few coins. He couldn’t afford to be duped.
“Sir, here’s the deal—we don’t want money. Just tell us how many contribution points these goods are worth, and we’ll ask the production crew for that amount,” Xu Xiu explained.
“What? That’s a good deal? No money at all?”
“Absolutely no money!” Xu Xiu nodded.
“Sir, how much contribution value do you think this is worth? Around ten thousand?”
The man’s face turned pale.
Ten thousand???
Had he heard correctly?
Though he didn’t understand what contribution points were for, this was absurd—just casually asking for ten thousand?
Page 2/3
“I dare you to ask the production crew for that,” the man said.
“Nine thousand! That’s not too high!” Xu Xiu bargained.
“Alright, alright, I’ll give you an 80% discount—eight thousand, how about that?”
The other three were already covering their faces, as if they didn’t know Xu Xiu. This was just embarrassing!
How dare he!
Suddenly, a loud voice came from behind them.
“Xu Xiu! Don’t be ridiculous!”
It was Gao Liang, who couldn’t stand it any longer.
If he didn’t step in, he feared Xu Xiu would end up fleecing the man.
“Just convert these goods’ value into contribution points based on real monetary worth. See how much it’s worth and give him that many points.”
“No, Director Gao, I worked so hard to gather these.”
“Five hundred should be fair. That’s already very generous.”
After saying this, Xu Xiu gave the man a look, but the man glanced toward the director instead.
He knew who provided his meals; not listening to the director would be foolish.
“I think two hundred contribution points is reasonable,” the man offered a more moderate figure.
“Fine, two hundred it is. No take-backs. We’ll keep supplying you with vegetables in the future!”
Xu Xiu’s expression changed swiftly.
This caught the director off guard.
“You said ten thousand before. Why agree to two hundred now?”
“Sir, you have to understand, business is give and take.”
“But this is obviously abnormal. Who asks for ten thousand then agrees to two hundred?”
“Well, today you just happened to meet me.”
“...”

Gao Liang didn’t want to argue further; he feared this kid would drive him crazy.
“Give him two hundred and make him disappear from my sight.”
Seeing the director agree to the contribution points, Xu Xiu’s face broke into a smile.
“Oh, thank you, dear Director... I’m bowing to you, director.”
Gao Liang muttered a curse and walked off, while the other three stared at Xu Xiu in shock.
( •́ ᴗ •̀ )
This is too powerful!
Even the director can be easily manipulated—he must be a born variety show genius!
The three on site were stunned, not to mention the audience, who were completely dazzled by Xu Xiu’s showmanship.

“Oh my goodness, this kid is truly a prodigy!”
“No wonder the director didn’t try to stop him. This kid is something else!”
“Too funny! Sister Meng was stunned the whole time, her little expressions were hilarious.”
“The three of them just stood there watching, but Xu Xiu took care of everything alone. Xu Xiu, remember to report those three when it’s time to settle accounts!”
The three on site still stared at Xu Xiu like they didn’t know him.
Xu Xiu glanced at them.
“What are you looking at? Don’t be obsessed with me—I’m just a legend!”

[Ding! Congratulations! You have obtained the rights to the song “Little Apple”—lyrics, composition, performance, and music video.]
When the system’s voice ended, the complete lyrics and melody of “Little Apple” suddenly filled Xu Xiu’s mind.
Wow...
Why did it feel so strange? There are so many songs on Earth, why “Little Apple” of all things?
Is this just to annoy me?!
Sensing Xu Xiu’s sour mood, Meng Ziyi asked, “What’s wrong? We were just joking with you. You’re not mad, are you?”
Even Dong Xuan and Wang Chuanjun looked over, and Xu Xiu quickly waved them off.
“It’s nothing. I just suddenly remembered something upsetting. Forget it, let’s go back and plant.”
Though Xu Xiu said this, Meng Ziyi still felt something was off and kept watching him closely all the way back.
This puzzled Xu Xiu. Was there something wrong with this person? Why keep staring at me?
Back at the vegetable garden, Xu Xiu and Wang Chuanjun grabbed hoes. There was still plenty of land unplanted, and the two planned to sow eggplants and chili peppers.
These crops were essential for everyone’s meals, so there was no room for carelessness—after all, food is the foundation of the people.
At first, digging was manageable, but after a while, it grew exhausting, and Wang Chuanjun was bent over like an old woman, unable to straighten his back.
Xu Xiu couldn’t resist teasing mercilessly.
“Brother Jun, you look just like an old lady. Want me to tie a rag around your head too? That would complete the look.”
“I can’t take it anymore. I’m old, my back aches terribly.”
While they chatted, Meng Ziyi and Dong Xuan brought over the water hose.
Planting vegetables was simple—just water the soil, wait for the moisture to seep in, then plant the seeds.
