Manager Wang pulled a black business card from his pocket and handed it to Yu Yue.
“Alright, no problem. I’ll put you in charge of these five vehicles directly. I’ll transfer thirty million to you as well. Is that okay?”
As Yu Yue finished speaking, Manager Wang felt his heart skip a beat. This extra thirty million deal wasn’t the kind of business done at a regular dealership; the staggering profit involved was something he didn’t believe Yu Yue was unaware of.
But looking at this calm, composed young woman before him, he felt as if she didn’t even care about the nearly one hundred million yuan she was about to spend today.
It wasn’t until after signing the contract with Yu Yue and watching the young woman leave that Manager Wang’s mood finally settled. Damn, she was truly wealthy.
Thanks to Manager Wang’s connection, Yu Yue drove to an ordinary hardware store in the city.
The storefront displayed various common hardware tools, with plastic buckets and ropes stacked by the entrance. From the outside, it looked no different from a typical general store.
Yu Yue pushed open the door. Inside, the light was dim, and the shelves were filled with an array of hardware items. The air was thick with the mingling scent of metal and lubricating oil.
The shop owner, a middle-aged man with slightly greasy hair, was sitting behind the counter reading a newspaper. Hearing the door open, he glanced up lazily.
Without wasting words, Yu Yue walked straight to the counter.
“Boss Jin, Manager Wang introduced me to you. I believe he has already told you my requirements: gasoline and diesel, 10,000 barrels each of 200 liters. Price is not an issue. I need them in stock and delivered as soon as possible.”
“That’s doable, but since you need it so urgently, I’ll have to charge extra. Two thousand five hundred per barrel for both gasoline and diesel.”
The price was over sixty percent above market value, but Yu Yue readily paid a ten million yuan deposit, provided a warehouse address in the suburbs, and agreed that the remaining payment would be made after the goods arrived and passed inspection within three days.
With the deal settled, Yu Yue prepared to leave. Just as she stepped out of the hardware store, she overheard Boss Jin muttering to himself, “I don’t know what’s going on lately, but the overseas supply is under tighter scrutiny. Business is getting tougher.”
Yu Yue’s expression remained unchanged, though her eyes darkened for a moment.
It seemed the apocalypse coming in half a month had already given its warning signs. In her memory, before the apocalypse fully descended, the zombie virus had already broken out on a small scale.

During that period, news like “Rabid dogs attacking people on the street” and “Monsters assaulting pedestrians” had circulated quietly online.
But living in an era of peace, people were far from having any sense of crisis or seeing these as signs of the apocalypse. Moreover, the authorities deliberately suppressed any hot topics about apocalyptic theories, so most regarded those reports as mere jokes.
In her previous life, Yu Yue was also one of those who didn’t believe in apocalypse theories. Yet, she never expected that at midnight on September 1st, the zombie virus would suddenly mutate, spreading worldwide. More than seventy percent of ordinary people turned into terrifying monsters.
On the day the apocalypse arrived, the Lin family—three vicious beasts—came again demanding alimony from her.
But before Lin Duobao could break down her door, her neighbor, already turned zombie, went berserk and attacked the three of them.
Lin Dahai, the patriarch standing farthest outside, was the first to be attacked. Within minutes, he too became a monster.
Out of a shred of humanity, Yu Yue opened the door just as the zombies were about to tear into Zhang Meifeng and Lin Duobao, letting them in.
But that small act of kindness nearly damned her forever!
Later, when she sought revenge, her hypocritical younger sister Yu Jiaojiao stepped in to play the peacemaker. For the sake of gaining favor with the family, Yu Yue ultimately swallowed this mortal enmity.
Even when she was sent to the laboratory, she remembered that mother and son living comfortably under Yu Jiaojiao’s protection.
This time, although she had early on sent one of those heartless mother and son to police custody and the other lay in hospital, after the apocalypse, she would surely crush the Lin family beasts to dust.
After leaving the hardware store, Yu Yue hurried to a specialty sword shop in Longquan.
Though all the knives in the store were unsharpened collectibles, as the saying goes, “Money can move the devil.”
After offering nearly three times the price, the shop owner reluctantly accepted Yu Yue’s order for a batch of top-grade Tang dynasty steel swords, convinced by her reasoning that sharpened blades were better for protecting the home.
Within two days, Yu Yue had basically secured food, daily necessities, transportation, and weapons. Her account balance, originally 320 million yuan, was now just over fifty million after this spree.
After some thought, Yu Yue chose to spend the remaining funds purchasing a batch of fitness equipment from a mall. While the workers loaded them onto a truck, she covertly stored the equipment in her Taoyuan space.

The apocalypse was imminent. Although the martial arts skills from her past life were still etched in her mind, it had been too long since she last fought in real combat, and her physical condition desperately needed improvement.
Therefore, Yu Yue’s plan was to spend the rest of her fifty million lavishly while simultaneously training her body and cultivating her supernatural abilities on the eve of the apocalypse, striving to strengthen herself as much as possible before it arrived.
Approaching noon and before returning home, Yu Yue visited the snack street across from her apartment once again. She bought fifty portions of each kind of delicacy.
Meat sandwiches, takoyaki, grilled cold noodles, hand-grabbed pancakes, crayfish... such foods would become scarce once the apocalypse struck.
Yu Yue ate while strolling, then, taking advantage of a moment when no one was watching, stored all the snacks in her Taoyuan space.
After three hours of eating and wandering until she could eat no more, Yu Yue, carrying a bounty of snacks in her space, prepared to head home.
Humming happily, she thought about visiting various restaurants and hotels in the coming days to pack more meals.
After all, her Taoyuan space had a time-stop area, and it would be a waste not to spend the remaining fifty million. Once the apocalypse shattered all order, any money left would be worthless.
But her good mood lasted only until she neared the entrance of her apartment complex.
Just as she was about to enter, a middle-aged man, his face swollen and pocked with scars, who had apparently been waiting for some time, suddenly appeared before her brandishing a kitchen knife, blocking her path with a fierce glare.
“You little bitch! You won’t give me money, fine, but you even dared to send my precious son to the hospital, you unfilial daughter!”
Hearing that familiar voice, Yu Yue’s eyes instantly hardened.
Lin Dahai—her brutal, abusive, gambling, and drunken foster father—had died in the jaws of zombies during the previous apocalypse.
It seemed her lesson to this family hadn’t been severe enough. Zhang Meifeng and Lin Duobao were locked up in the police station and hospital, yet Lin Dahai still dared to swagger in front of her.
