Chapter 20: Not Taking Him Seriously?
Page 1/3
Song Yashi grew increasingly furious as she thought about it, cursing loudly, “If it’s a divorce, then fine! That shameless woman—let the Ling family have her; they can pick up their trash. As for our Chu family...”
She wanted to say she didn’t care, but the words caught in her throat and wouldn’t come out. Shi Yi could repair jade antiques and design jewelry—a talented woman like that was highly valued by the Chu family now!
She only had herself to blame for thinking Shi Yi was an easy target to squeeze mercilessly. Who would have known that this “soft persimmon” would turn into a cactus, tormenting her so deeply that her heart ached and her regrets nearly turned her insides green.
Chu Yifan’s lips trembled as he began to wail, “Mom, I don’t believe it. I don’t believe Shi Yi doesn’t love me anymore. She used to love me so much... If she leaves me, don’t regret it...”
“Good boy, don’t cry. Mom doesn’t believe it either. Why would she suddenly change so much?” Song Yashi pulled Chu Yifan into a tight embrace.
Seeing her son cry, Song Yashi was heartbroken and cursed silently that Shi Yi, that shameless woman, would be struck down by lightning.
…
Inside the hospital room, after coaxing Shi Yi to sleep, Ling Siyue took up his phone and typed out a message, then sent it.
“Eliminate the Chu family.”
After three seconds of silence, the reply came: “Kill them?”
Looking at the woman lying on the bed, Ling Siyue’s heart ached bitterly. The more obedient and kind Shi Yi was, the more he worried.
After a moment of silence, Ling Siyue pressed his thin lips together and smiled suddenly. It wasn’t worth taking a life just to get revenge on that scum family.
He, Ling Siyue, would seek vengeance with a clear conscience—that was the only way he could be worthy of his beloved Yi Yi.
He replied: “Make them vanish completely from Kyoto.”
…
Shi Yi slept drowsily for about an hour. When she woke, she looked outside; the sky had already darkened completely.
She was alone in the cold, quiet hospital room, wondering where that elusive man had gone.
At that moment, Su Jinyu finished work and peeked into Shi Yi’s room.
As soon as she entered, she hooked her arm around Shi Yi’s, “Yi Yi, come on! To celebrate your fresh single status, I’m taking you, my good girl, out to have some fun!”
“Jinyu, stop joking. I’m not going,” Shi Yi resisted a little.
Su Jinyu tugged and pulled her off the bed. “Yi Yi, you’re way too well-behaved. I’m taking you out to relax. Don’t be so nervous—if you see some handsome guy you like, just go for it. It’s on me! How about that? Fair enough, right?”
…
Half an hour later, at the biggest bar in Kyoto.
It was Shi Yi’s first time in such a place. Surrounded by the flickering lights and the haze of alcohol, she felt uneasy and out of place.

“Jinyu, my head feels a bit dizzy. Let’s go back!”
“Sit down. No leaving,” Su Jinyu pressed her back into the seat.
Shi Yi frowned slightly. “Then I’ll just go to the restroom.”
“Your hand is injured. I’ll go with you.”
They stood, and just as they turned, two flamboyantly dressed women approached. The strong smell of cigarette smoke made Shi Yi instinctively hold her breath.
“Hey, Yanyan, look who that is! Isn’t that the shameless woman who stole your rightful identity?” The blonde girl in a tight camisole dress, Song Jia, sneered.
Dressed in a seductive red dress, Shi Yan glanced disdainfully at Shi Yi. “Yeah, she stole my identity and lived the good life with the Shi family for twenty years, making me suffer so much. But I’m well-bred—I won’t stoop to her level.”
Song Jia said angrily, “Yanyan, you’re too kind. If it were me, I’d hit her every time I saw her—shameless woman!”
Shi Yi lifted her eyes and smiled faintly at them but said nothing.
In the original owner’s memories, Shi Yan was the girl who was switched at birth with her during childhood—the true daughter of the Shi family. After the Shi family recognized her, they abandoned Shi Yi. Twenty years of feelings couldn’t outweigh that blood tie—it was truly ironic.
She held back and told herself to keep a low profile for now, especially since her hand was injured, making it difficult to fight back.
Su Jinyu beside her snapped in a bad temper, “Bad dogs don’t block the way. Get lost quickly.”
Shi Yan linked arms with Song Jia, her smile not reaching her eyes. “Jiajia, let’s sit over there. Don’t let some irrelevant people ruin our good mood.”
Song Jia shrugged, “Seeing those two is enough to spoil my mood. Let’s ignore them.”
“Wow.” Su Jinyu stuck out her tongue and made a punching gesture. “You two are the real nausea-inducers!”
…
Elsewhere, after finishing his company matters, Ling Siyue returned to the hospital.
The bodyguard He Wen, assigned to guard the door, was missing. Ling Siyue frowned.
He pushed open the hospital room door to find it empty, his heart tightening with alarm.
He hurriedly asked a passing nurse, “Where is the patient from this room?”
The nurse glanced at the patient’s file. “Dr. Su vouched for her and arranged her discharge. She left an hour ago.”
Ling Siyue’s face darkened. Shi Yi and Chu Yifan were divorced and homeless now—how could she leave without informing anyone?
She clearly didn’t take him seriously!
He pulled out his phone and called Shi Yi, but a mechanical female voice responded: “The number you dialed is powered off.”
He quickly opened WeChat and messaged her, but the message was like a stone dropped into the sea—no response for a long time.

Ling Siyue’s handsome brows knitted tightly as he called He Wen, “I told you to protect Miss Shi. Where is she?”
He Wen replied respectfully, “Miss Shi said she has no relation to you, no family ties, and that you should not concern yourself with her affairs.”
Ling Siyue smirked despite himself in disbelief.
This woman slept with him, yet wanted to dissociate from him? Was he that casual a person?
He coldly ordered, “Track her by phone location. I want to know exactly where she is.”
“Yes, Young Master Ling,” He Wen answered promptly.
Ten minutes later.
He Wen called again. “Young Master Ling, Miss Shi went to the Starry Sky Bar.”
Ling Siyue’s grip on the phone tightened until it nearly deformed.
Her hand was injured, he worried terribly, yet she still had the nerve to go out and enjoy herself at a bar!?
…
Not far away, Shi Yan and Song Jia sat down. When Shi Yi and Su Jinyu returned from the restroom, they heard the two whispering.
“Yanyan, did you hear? The crown prince of Kyoto’s Ling family, the eldest son, just returned from abroad. Wow, I want to scream—he’s so handsome!” Song Jia gushed, staring at the photo of Ling Siyue on her phone.
Shi Yan suddenly became interested and leaned in. “You’re saying he’s the eldest son of the Ling family?”
“Yeah, he’s so handsome—I could stare at the screen all day,” Song Jia drooled.
“But I heard he’s a celibate Buddhist, avoids women. I wonder which lucky woman will win his favor...”
Shi Yan fluttered her lashes and smiled coquettishly. “So that’s him!”
He was the matchmaking candidate her father introduced to her a few days ago. She had her eye on this man.
…
At another table, after a few drinks, Shi Yi was feeling slightly tipsy.
Su Jinyu struck up a conversation with two slick-haired “handsome guys.”
A man wearing a dark red shirt, with almost all his buttons undone, sat beside Shi Yi and grinned, “Beautiful, your hand’s hurt, let me feed you!”
Shi Yi furrowed her brow, raising her arm to block him. “What’s your deal? Get lost.”
