Chapter 26: Let Me Show You the Crab Dance
Be polite when you speak.
She finally managed to get out; Gu Xiaomo wished she could kill the system. "Did you even look at how you handled things? I'm supposed to be polite? Honestly, are you actually on Lexi's side? Are you helping Lexi deal with me?" Gu Xiaomo was deeply suspicious.
The system was equally suspicious and, feeling guilty, quickly ran a self-check.
It really was bound to Gu Xiaomo. It couldn't figure out why it malfunctioned, but it would never admit that.
Of course not. I'm here to help you, Host. But just remember to be polite to me in the future.
"You really are stubborn, quite the little diva. If you actually helped me, that'd be great, but you keep bragging about how powerful you are. I've already lost several rounds. If I lose again, I'll go out and tell everyone bad things about you."
As for whom she'd tell, Gu Xiaomo wasn't sure.
That evening, thanks to her excellent massage skills, Grandma Wang gave her two large coconuts.
Gu Xiaomo gave one to Cui Meiying.
"Meiying, I'm sorry. I wasn't very nice to you today. It's because I'm on my period. Every time it happens, my temper gets a little uncontrollable. The more I think about it, the more I feel guilty."
Originally, Cui Meiying wanted to snap back and refuse, but as Gu Xiaomo spoke, her eyes reddened.
Thinking back, Gu Xiaomo had been quite good to her before. Reflecting on it, it was probably Cui Meiying who had the bad attitude first, and Gu Xiaomo was just copying her. What fault did Gu Xiaomo have?
"It's alright, don't feel bad."
"Meiying, you're wonderful. I knew it—you’re beautiful and kind-hearted."
Gu Xiaomo showered her with compliments, and soon the two were back to being close and affectionate.
Lexi watched from the side, unable to bear it. Even Wang Sisi, who had always thought highly of Gu Xiaomo, suddenly found her a bit manipulative.
The next day, a new task began.
Previously, Gu Xiaomo, Cui Meiying, and the others had all given up. The people in this village—except for the elderly—weren't normal. Normal people should have emotions and desires.
Last night, Gu Xiaomo scrolled through the barrage of comments. The praise for her was increasing again.
There were more curses for Lexi, too.
That proved the system was working properly this time.
So she worked on Cui Meiying, her words all targeting Lexi, even bringing up Cui Meiying’s beauty.
It was the first time Cui Meiying had been somewhere without attracting attention from men, which made her feel rather down.
Suddenly, her competitive spirit was ignited.
"Is it true? If you really get a girlfriend, they give you money?"
Whoa, is that for real? Cui Meiying, Gu Xiaomo, wait for me—I’ll fly over right now. I have a girlfriend.
The person above, what if they only want people from Xishanhe? You're not from there. But Gu Xiaomo and Cui Meiying are really going for it.
I hate it! Why am I not from Xishanhe? I’d love to have a girlfriend. My biggest hobby is dating.
Gu Xiaomo and Cui Meiying nodded vigorously.
"Of course it's true—we’re live right now. How could we possibly lie?"
"So," a man said, "Which of you doesn't have a boyfriend? I'm willing to be your boyfriend—either of you, both are fine."
Help, brother, you’re dreaming of getting both the girl and the money.
I can’t take it. Look at yourself! So dark, shorter than both Cui Meiying and Gu Xiaomo. They’re rich, famous, beautiful, celebrities and influencers, and you think you’d take either? Like you’re losing out?
Who says the people here aren’t normal? I think they’re too normal. Who else would have such thick skin?
This guy really has no shame. But if Gu Xiaomo or Cui Meiying actually agreed, this show would be wild.
Spit, spit, spit! Whoever said Gu Xiaomo or Cui Meiying would agree, I curse you!
Cui Meiying and Gu Xiaomo exchanged a speechless glance and told the man, "Goodbye."
The man chased after them, "Come on, let’s talk it over!"
Frightened, Cui Meiying and Gu Xiaomo took off running.
So funny—two beauties chased by a stray dog.
Production team, please get the staff to stop this guy. He’s scary! There’s a cameraman filming; he knows it’s live and still dares to chase them. Is he mentally ill?
Wang Sisi followed Lexi, thinking Lexi wanted to go to the beach because there were more people, perhaps to play matchmaker.
But Lexi wasn’t heading towards the crowd—she was going after crabs by the shore.
Wang Sisi: "Lexi, aren’t we supposed to complete the task?"
Lexi looked up at Wang Sisi. "Do you want to get married?"
Wang Sisi shrugged. "Maybe it’s not about whether I want to or not."
Lexi: "Didn’t your idol contract expire? And your new company forbids dating? That can’t be—you’re twenty—"
Wang Sisi: "Actually, I’m twenty-eight."
Wang Sisi is twenty-eight? Didn’t her profile say twenty-five? Changed her age?
Yeah, she changed it. She just admitted it herself.
Sisi is so honest. Some artists are so touchy about their age, even if they haven’t changed it. Sisi is so sincere. Love her!
"The company doesn’t forbid dating. It’s the men—every guy I know thinks I’m a bit crazy. If I so much as give them an ambiguous look, they run faster than anyone, terrified I’ll latch onto them. I want to get married, but who would marry me?"
Lexi couldn’t help laughing. This little sister was actually quite adorable.
I’m dying laughing.
So Sisi, to get married, maybe try dancing less?
Who says Sisi should stop dancing just because guys think she’s crazy? Why should she change for them?
I always thought Sisi danced in front of everyone as a persona. Turns out it’s real. I used to look away, but from now on, whenever Sisi dances, I’ll be watching closely.
"You’re laughing at me too? Fine, laugh all you want." Wang Sisi grabbed a big crab. "Watch me perform a crab dance."
"Careful, don’t let it bite you!" Lexi was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. "You really are talented."
My worthless tears, pouring out!
Sisi is such a treasure.
Sisi, please get famous—really famous. If guys don’t like you, we girls do.
Lexi’s about to die laughing—someone go save Lexi!
Lexi really doesn’t care about her image, laughing like that.
What’s going on?
What kind of dance is that? It looks so fun.
She’s holding a crab? Not afraid of getting bitten? She’s hardcore—I have to check this out.
For a moment, all the men and women on the beach were drawn over.
At first, everyone just watched and laughed at Wang Sisi. But as they laughed, they started to join in and dance.
The key was, the young men and women here used to barely speak to each other.
Now, for the first time ever, they were holding hands and dancing together.
