Volume One, Chapter Two: A Dream Come True
“Jelly, wake up quickly!”
“It’s just a blind date, why did you faint from anger?”
“That’s such a fragile heart!”
Splash!
A mouthful of water sprayed onto Guo Dong’s face, shattering his beautiful dream.
Guo Dong had been dreaming a wonderful dream.
In the dream, the family heirloom gourd he possessed had once been used by an immortal.
Inside it was a spring that dripped one drop of water each day; the water, sprinkled over his fields, greatly boosted the growth of his fruits.
He then took advantage of this and made a fortune.
The peaches grew even larger than watermelons, each fetching a sky-high price.
The rice in the fields was so abundant one could sit beneath the stalks and enjoy the shade.
He became wealthy, built a grand mansion, bought four or five luxury cars, each with a private driver.
When he went out, the luxury cars lined up side by side, a truly magnificent sight.
But the dream was short-lived. Just as the exciting part came, rain began to pour.
The heavy rain woke him up instantly.
“My treasure, where is my treasure?”
As soon as he opened his eyes, he began rummaging around frantically.
“Treasure? Jelly, are you out of your mind? Where would you have a treasure?”
Only then did Guo Dong notice the woman before him.
It was none other than Meng Xiaohan, his childhood playmate.
Her long ponytail, casual outfit, and handsome features made her irresistibly approachable!
Now, Meng Xiaohan was bent over, holding a bottle of purified water in one hand, wiping her mouth with the other.
This woman was in a different league from him.
She had graduated from university and had been serving as the village official since returning, truly impressive.
So impressive that no one had come to propose marriage.
Either she was too plain-looking, or rather, too beautiful and outstanding, making it impossible for the matchmakers in the nearby villages to find a suitable partner for her.
“My family heirloom, Grandpa clearly gave it to me, it was right here in my pocket—how did it disappear?”
Guo Dong’s face grew anxious; it was a family heirloom.
He was going to take it to the city to sell for money. If he lost it, he wouldn’t know when he could repay Uncle Mouse’s debts.
“What’s wrong? I kindly saved you, and now you’re trying to frame me? Let me tell you, Guo Dong, don’t talk about having any treasures at home—if you did, your father squandered them all before he passed.”
Meng Xiaohan straightened up, her expression immediately souring, truly wanting to kick Guo Dong hard.
As her words fell, the anxious Blackie beside them barked loudly.
“See? Even your Blackie thinks what you’re doing is wrong.”
Meng Xiaohan sat down on the ground, hugging her knees.
Even sitting there, she couldn’t hide those long, slender legs.
This woman was simply too beautiful—there seemed to be no flaw in her.
If there was one, it was that she didn’t know how to dress up well, preferring to wrap herself up tightly, hiding her perfect figure.
She said irritably, “You’re grown now, not working outside, stubbornly staying home to practice filial piety.
Look at what you’ve become—no income, can’t even grow good peaches.”
Her words were righteous, but Guo Dong didn’t hear a single one.
“That’s not right, it was definitely in my pocket.”
He searched left and right, rummaging through every pocket, but couldn’t find it.
Meng Xiaohan was furious, cursed a few words, then got up and left.
To be honest, this woman was truly perfect—whether in looks or figure, she was top-notch.
Even just her back view was enough to stir many men’s imaginations.
But Guo Dong had no time to admire her.
Sitting on the ground, he slapped his own head hard.
Ouch!
Not a dream!
Excited, he abandoned the bucket and hoe, and ran back home.
“Grandpa! Grandpa!”
“Where’s the pesticide bucket we bought before?”
Before he even entered the house, his voice echoed into the courtyard.
“What’s going on? Are you going to spray pesticides on the fruits?”
Grandpa, who was cooking, looked up at Guo Dong’s return and smiled.
Life hadn’t beaten this old man down; he could still smile at such a moment.
“No, just spraying some water!”
“What’s the use of bothering with those fruits? You’d better think about going to the city to work with Mouse in a few days.”
Ignoring Grandpa, Guo Dong rushed inside, found the so-called pesticide bucket, filled it with water, and ran back to the mountain orchard.
Although the distance wasn’t far, the back and forth left him exhausted.
Blackie ran eagerly alongside him, panting heavily in the scorching heat.
Upon reaching the orchard on the mountain, Blackie collapsed under the fruit trees, refusing to move.
The owner’s gone crazy!
Why else would he be acting so strange?
Since fainting, he hadn’t shown a trace of normality.
Guo Dong held the gourd in his hand, shaking it constantly, trying to pour something out of it.
The gourd hummed continuously, as if complaining about its dissatisfaction.
Then a light drizzle began to fall from the sky, and the previously displeased gourd suddenly perked up.
Guo Dong, carrying the bucket, began spraying the fruit trees.
The water in the bucket was diluted spiritual water.
Just like in the dream, the gourd could indeed pour out a spirit liquid.
Though it was only one drop, it was enough for him!
Humming a tune, he sprayed the water over the trees.
He had planted two acres of peaches; the peaches were small, and some were infested with worms.
But the trees were laden with fruit!
“You really know what you’re doing, huh?”
Seeing Blackie happily following the spray, Guo Dong couldn’t help but scold.
The extra water splashed onto Blackie, making the dog overjoyed.
Jumping up and down, Blackie expressed his inner delight.
Regardless of the effect, just by Blackie’s excitement, the water had to be good.
After spraying only a third of the peach trees, the bucket was nearly empty.
Guo Dong shook his head and smiled bitterly at the little water left.
At that moment, a familiar voice came from down the mountain.
“Jelly, still picking your peaches? Hurry back! That brat Li Tianhu came to your house, trying to take your stuff!”
“Who?”
Guo Dong was startled, dropping the bucket and running home with Blackie.
