Chapter 19: The Sword Saint of the Wilderness, A Terrifying Legend!
Just as Su Mu was about to leave, Old Mo suddenly said, "Wait a moment."
Su Mu turned back, disgruntled. "What is it? Are you worried I'll stiff you on the spirit stones? Didn't I just show you my warehouse?"
Old Mo smiled faintly. "Of course not. I saw your strength through the backend just now, Lord."
"I just wanted to tell you that since you've spent over 40 million in our shop, you are entitled to a lucky draw. Who knows, you might even pull a God-tier card."
Su Mu paused, a smile spreading across his face. He certainly wouldn't pass up such a great opportunity.
Old Mo brought out an antique-looking box and shook it vigorously. "Lord, you may draw now. You might receive a Purple-Gold God Card, or perhaps just a blank card. It all depends on your luck."
Su Mu smiled, walked over, and reached his hand into the box.
"Luck? I, Su Mu, have never believed in such things."
Su Mu thought to himself, quickly grabbing a card and pulling it out.
But when he saw the card in his hand, he couldn't suppress the smile that broke across his face.
A Purple-Gold God Card!
He had reached in and grabbed a Purple-Gold God Card on his very first try.
"My apologies, Buddha. I take back what I just said. Luck is actually quite useful sometimes."
At this moment, Su Mu could barely contain his urge to roar with laughter.
A Purple-Gold God Card—it was priceless. It was said that an ordinary one cost 300 million Dragon Coins, and even then, you couldn't find a seller.
He had spent 4,500 Dragon Coins today and ended up with a Purple-Gold God Card. Not only had he broken even, but this was an absolutely insane profit!
"Holographic Eye."
Su Mu immediately summoned his Holographic Eye to check the card's information.
[Card Name: Divine Weapon Card]
[Grade: Purple-Gold God-tier]
[Card Details: The Congtian Sword Saint, an otherworldly entity and human-shaped imperial weapon. Originally possessing the strength of a Level 10, he was personally struck down by the God King and sealed within this card, his memories erased. Exact strength unknown.]
[Usage: Must be bound via a soul contract formed with the Lord's own essence blood. Once the contract is formed, they will become the host's most loyal servant, never to betray them.]
"Ha! Hahahahaha!"
Su Mu finally succumbed to his joy, throwing his head back and laughing wildly. Finding a Level 10 bodyguard for free—who wouldn't laugh?
Old Mo looked at Su Mu as if he were an idiot. "Lord, why are you laughing? Did you actually pull a Purple-Gold God Card?"
As he spoke, Old Mo stood on his tiptoes to peek at the card in Su Mu's hand. His eyes widened like saucers, and he exclaimed, "Holy crap! You actually pulled the Congtian Sword Saint card!"
Su Mu paused, looked back at Old Mo, and asked with a grin, "What, you're familiar with this Congtian Sword Saint? Come on, tell me, what’s so special about him?"
Old Mo looked proud. "Of course. Although I am a hologram now, I was a Level 10 Lord in my previous life. After I died in battle... cough, cough!"
At this, Old Mo stopped abruptly, as if touching upon some imperial secret.
Even if he wouldn't say, Su Mu knew the reason.
The Empire possessed high-tech methods to preserve the memories of the deceased, turning them into holographic projections to handle service work, though their original power was long gone.
However, every hologram was a living encyclopedia, possessing comprehensive knowledge of the Empire and the Dark Forest. Simply put, this guy Old Mo was a walking library; whenever Su Mu had questions, he could just ask him.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone you're a hologram. Now, tell me about the Congtian Sword Saint."
Su Mu smiled and comforted Old Mo, knowing it must be painful to be reduced from a legendary powerhouse to a mere projection.
Old Mo cast a grateful look at Su Mu and continued:
"No one knows where the Congtian Sword Saint came from. His birthplace was near the Dark Abyss. His strength was rare in this lifetime; the moment he appeared, he slaughtered several Level 11 human lords and three Level 12 Abyss Grand Lords."
*Is this guy a psychopath? Why kill both dark creatures and humans?* Su Mu mused, suddenly recalling that the system description mentioned he was eventually suppressed by a God King—a Level 13 powerhouse.
According to Old Mo, a regular God King probably couldn't beat him, considering he treated Level 12 lords like water.
"Wasn't he suppressed by a God King in the end?" Su Mu couldn't help but ask.
Old Mo glanced at Su Mu, looking puzzled. "How do you know that rumor? That's supposed to be an imperial secret. It happened a hundred years ago; you probably weren't even born yet."
"Haha, secrets? Someone always lets them slip." Su Mu brushed it off with a vague excuse.
Old Mo didn't press the issue and continued: "He was suppressed by a God King, yes, but it wasn't just one. Three human God Kings and two Dark Monarchs had to strike together to bring him down. That battle, sigh..."
Old Mo sighed, a hint of terror in his eyes. It seemed he had been truly traumatized back then, and just hearing the name still left him shaken.
"Hahaha!" Su Mu, however, listened with great interest, feeling overjoyed. After all, the Congtian Sword Saint was about to be his servant; the stronger, the better.
"Alright, thank you for telling me all this. You go get some rest, old man. I'm going to go build my manor."
Su Mu patted Old Mo firmly on the shoulder and walked excitedly out of the exchange office.
Before him lay a dilapidated estate overgrown with weeds.
Su Mu took out one hundred servant cards and threw them onto the ground. A flash of white light erupted, and one hundred servants appeared before him in perfect formation.
They were clones manufactured by the Empire using advanced technology—docile and designed to serve humanity.
They possessed no combat capability, but they were excellent at cleaning and basic construction.
"You, from now on you are 9527, the leader of these servants. Split these people into three groups."
"One group will clear the debris and weeds from the City Lord's manor."
"One group will go out to cut timber and help me build a perimeter wall. I want to see a wall standing around my manor by nightfall."
"The last group will go hunting; help me bring back some game. I'm going to have a feast tonight."
Su Mu randomly selected a servant who looked capable to be the leader and assigned their tasks.
These people were programmed with various life skills at birth, and they came equipped with the necessary tools for their jobs.
Under 9527’s leadership, they split into three groups and immediately began working in an orderly fashion.
As long as they remained within the range of the Holy Light, they were in no danger of losing their lives.
